A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM ADAM LAWHORNE, PRESIDENT OF MIE
There have recently been many conflicting reports on the safety in Mexico and its border towns. Meeting Incentive Experts encompasses offices in Los Cabos, Cancun and Chicago. I make it my own personal standard to attend my client's programs, site inspections and numerous events and meetings within Mexico. I find Mexico's beach resorts as safe as Chicago! The Mexican Government continues to positively battle the illegal drug industry in its country and surrounding border towns in conjunction with the United States government. The areas of concern are geographically located a far distance from the tourism beach destinations and therefore do not affect the safety of these areas. In my 19 years of experience with Meetings and Incentives in Mexico I have never encountered an issue of "safety". The misrepresentation by the US State Department and local media unfortunately create an incorrect unrest in perception with our beautiful destinations. I wanted to take this opportunity to reconfirm the benefits of what Mexico has to offer for your next meeting or incentive program:
Warm and friendly hospitality. Unbeatable air accessibility from the USA, Canada and Europe. Upscale accommodations and meeting facilities. Award winning Food and beverage options offering a variety of cuisines. Vat tax elimination for International Meetings and conventions. A 10% savings!
We most certainly look forward to our continued partnerships and many wonderful opportunities to come. I encourage you to contact me personally with any comments or concerns.
Sincerely,
Adam Lawhorne
President

SPOTLIGHT: OFFICIAL STATEMENT REGARDING THE RECENT US DEPARTMENT TRAVEL ADVISORY "Mexico remains a safe tourist destination and this is reflected in the 22.6 million international visitors that arrived in 2008, of which, 18 million were Americans. This number represents a 5.9 percent increase from the previous year. The violence associated with drug trafficking is isolated in cities that are far away from tourism destinations. Tourists who suffered any incidents were minimal.
Mexico is the tenth most visited tourist destination in the world and is a very large country with many safe destinations to visit and enjoy. We suggest using common precautions as when traveling to any foreign country."
