  • TERA needs your support! Our annual fund-raiser is on May 21 and we need you to participate. TERA's ability to provide financial support to many activities in our neighborhood is made possible by membership dues, which are modest, and income from our annual fundraiser. Please buy your tickets now and participate in the Guess Who's Coming to Dinner - 2011.

The evening begins with a festive reception for all at the Hill Drive home of Michael Schlueter and Damon Dennis. Then participants proceed to homes throughout Eagle Rock for dinner.

The home of one of our wonderful hosts, Nilza Serrano's, is featured below. Go to our website http://www.TERA90041.org for full descriptions of all host homes.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner Featured Host: Nilza Serrano / A Presidential Dinner with Lively Conversation

Plans are for a casual, informal evening with piano accompaniment for the conversation. The menu will showcase favorite dishes of American Presidents past and present, expertly prepared by Nilza's good friend who is a Cordon Bleu-trained chef and restaurateur.

    • Cheese Flight with Olives and Nuts (a favorite of Jimmy Carter)
    • Brussels Sprouts with Prosciutto
    • Wedge Salad with Exotic Blue Cheeses (a favorite of LBJ)
    • Steaks with Caramel-Brandy Sauce and vegetable (a favorite of Bill Clinton)
    • Fresh Berries with Cream (a favorite of Richard Nixon)
    • Dessert Wine

An Eagle Rock resident since 1999, Nilza is an active supporter of opportunity, education and outreach for Latinos and Latino Culture. She currently is a member of the Board of Amanacer Mental Health Services and Plaza De La Raza.

Nilza's Hill Drive home is filled with religious and secular art, much of it by Latino artists including originals by George Yepes and Frank Romero. The home itself has historic roots dating from the early 1920s and an eclectic mix of styles reminiscent of French Tudor on the outside with a Mediterranean interior.
