Recommendations from My Tutor and Me:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DVD Pick:
How Difficult Can this Be? The F.A.T. City Workshop: Understanding Learning Disabilities (DVD) by Richard Lavoie (DVD, 2004). My Tutor and Me believes this DVD should be required viewing for parents, educators or any care takers of children with learning disabilities. By providing a series of exercises that allow "normal" people to feel what children with a variety of different learning disabilities go through when trying to learn, he provides an effective tool that effectively instructs the viewer on communicating with empathy. September Book Picks:
The Motivation Breakthrough: 6 Secrets to Turning On the Tuned-Out Child by Richard Lavoie (Hardcover or Paperback). This must-read book takes parents and educators step-by-step to what motivates different personality types of children, and the best ways to encourage them. We feel it's a valuable read not just for those with learning disabled children, but for all children, especially those with behavioral issues.
It's So Much Work to be Your Friend: Helping Children with LD Find Social Success. This Richard Lavoie book is the first of its kind that discusses how parents, care takers and teachers can help learning disabled children enjoy social success and make friends.
