  • Partnership Grant Recipients Announced
    Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center

In June 2005, the Essex National Heritage Commission (ENHC) awarded more than $73,000 in the eighth annual ENHC Partnership Grant Program. Twenty-four matching grants were awarded to organizations in eighteen communities providing financial support to projects that encourage education, interpretation and preservation of the unique historic, cultural and natural resources within the Essex National Heritage Area. The awards were announced at a ceremony on June 13 at the Wenham Museum with Congressman John Tierney presenting the keynote address. Read about the 2005 Partnership Grant recipient's projects or visit the featured projects page of our website.

Coastal Trails Coalition Benefit a Success

A recent benefit in Newburyport drew nearly a 1000 people and raised $10,000 for the Coastal Trails Coalition. The daylong event coincided with the unveiling of Mill Five at The Tannery and featured a zip line, rock climbing wall, exhibits, food and live performances from 11 bands and entertainers, including nationally known recording artist Melissa Ferrick. ENHC along with the NPS River & Trails Program are among the CTC's founders and both continue to provide support to the regional nonprofit organization. Learn more about CTC by visiting the CTC website or download a brochure.

    Trails & Sails September 2005!

Save the date for September 24 & 25! Trails & Sails 2005 will greatly extend its reach this year as a result of an exciting new partnership. TD Banknorth has joined the Eagle Tribune as co-presenting sponsors of this year's festivities! Both companies share the Essex County footprint and appreciate the popularity of the event with residents and visitors. Thanks to their support, the ENHC will be able to deliver the event brochure to over 140 thousand households via the Eagle Tribune daily newspaper. TD Banknorth locations will also serve as brochure distribution and advertising points. Contact Kate Fox or visit the Trails & Sails page of the ENHA website for information.
