Reds in 1991 where he achieved notoriety for not only his performance, but also by achieving MVP status his first year! Later in his career, Rumfield achieved MVP status again with
a season that included 29 home runs and being selected for the Carolina League All-Star Team.
While with the Atlanta Braves organization, Rumfield was awarded the John M. Zwack III Award for "Most Community Minded Player" and led the league two years in a row in fielding percentage as a first baseman while in the International League.
Finding outstanding use for both his athletic and teaching skills he went on to manage the Florence Freedom minor-league team in 2009 leading them to their first winning season since 2003. Later, the Rumfield family decided to move to Maryland with his wife Kari's acceptance of an opportunity to serve as Assistant GM for the Aberdeen IronBirds. In 2011 Toby was contracted by the Arizona Diamondbacks as a scout and is currently scouting the Mid-Atlantic region for the next Cal Ripken. For nearly 20 years, Toby has been affiliated with or co-owned baseball academies. Currently in his career, Toby's true passion is in the teaching, training and coaching the game of baseball.
Toby is nothing short of fascinating to speak with; if you get the opportunity, you may even get to hear about his time as the high school's star quarterback playing to a packed stadium, or his being on the first U.S. baseball team to travel to Cuba!
Toby now resides in Kingsville with his wife Kari and three beautiful children ages 7, 11 and 14. Toby's free time typically includes keeping up with his favorite sport, activities with his children, and time permitting, an occasional round of golf.
