Greetings!
Another year has begun. Hopefully it can't be any worse than last year.
It was in January last year that Barb called and told me that her child, Marissa was diagnosed with childhood leukemia.
Barb returned to work after a few months. She was cheerful, optimistic and positive about Marissa's outcome. We got glimpse every now and then behind the facade and saw the strain and worry that any mother would have and our heart went out to her.
What a difference a year makes! Although Marissa still needs treatment her prognosis is excellent.
Over Christmas break Barb and her family went to Disneyland courtesy of Make a Wish.
Marissa and her sister had a wonderful time and got to see Mickey, Minnie and a whole lot more. Mostly, they wanted to go swimming. Barb returned and said she had a great time but needed a vacation from her vacation. The kids had wore her out.
Barb's folks stopped in for a visit on her first day back after vacation. They wanted to find out how the vacation was.
When they left I help open the door for them and wished them a Happy New Year. They responded with Happy New Year and "it can't be any worse than last year."
No, it can't.
Looking forward to serving you and to a better year. |
