Greetings!
The last few weeks of the year are upon us. Like most people, (I hope) we take time to look back and reflect on the last year.
Some of the hardest things that we have had to deal with are minutely trivial in comparison to the tsunami in Japan.
Some of our guests have just returned from that ravaged area. Cameron told me that nearly a year after the disaster struck the area is still ravaged. They went to help rebuild houses and raise the spirits of those affected by the disaster.
They told me a story of bring a feast up to the area near the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.
They drove up from the Shizuoka prefecture with a load of beef, chickens, hammers and nails. Not only was the help in building houses much appreciated but the beef they brought with them was the highlight.
The Brazilians that were there helping to build took the beef and chickens and made a huge barbecue in true Brazilian fashion A feast for the village and all who came to work! It was the first beef anyone in the area had seen or eaten since the tsunami.
Our hardships do seem petty in comparison. |
