Greetings!
This week we have the pleasure of catering to the San Francisco Jazz Collective. Better known as SF Jazz Collective.
We landed this gig because we took care of Christian McBride and his group when they performed for Fontana Chamber Arts last year. Christian and his group were effusive with their praise.
Charlie Tomlinson felt that we had done such an excellent job with Christian we should be able to handle SF Jazz Collective. The list of demands for these twelve folks is like a Friday night in the restaurant. No this, none of that, can we get this instead of that. Not a big deal really, except that this is off premise for twelve people on a buffet! Soup, no soup, what kind of soup? Does it have dairy? Salt? Gluten? They want soup? Not pasta? Okay pasta it is. No problem, we can do it.
Now Charlie has copied me on a few of the emails passed back and forth between him and their manager. I never realized that contracting a group of people to play music could be so involved and intricate. Every
thing from where the bus is parked, to lights on the music stands, to how tall the stools need to be on the stage right down to what color the towels they use to wipe their face and what temperature the bottles of water should be. Oy!
All this reminds of family vacations with my brothers and sisters. Are we there yet? I gotta pee! I am hungry! Mom he is touching me!!
Yesterday we delivered two catering gigs for lunch. We have SF Jazz tonight. A first birthday party for a cute little guy on Saturday. Sixty five pounds of pulled pork going out Sunday, A delivery on Monday and one on Tuesday for Humphrey Products. Hors D'oeuvres donation for KSOL Fashion Show on Tuesday night.
The reason I relate to you all of this? I find it humorous (sorry Charlie) and if we can put together a meal for twelve people with so many demands and restrictions for SF Jazz Collective, we can do just about anything for you.
If the music is as intricate as their demands this will be a wonderful show. If you love Jazz, Dalton will be the only place to be tonight. |
