Everyone did a great job!

Things are just peachy!

All through the month of August we will be featuring fresh peaches on our menu. Fresh picked daily from Schultz's Fruit Fridge Farms and we'll buy them by the bushel.
We will be doing the same things with peaches as we did in June and July with fresh strawberries, cherries, raspberries and blueberries. Everything from Pancakes to entrees, salads and desserts we let our guys and gals in the back go wild.

The Schultz's grow several varieties; Harrow Diamond, Garnet Beauty, Red Haven, Blazing Star, White Lady, Flaming Fury, Canadian Harmony, Coral Star, Harrow Fair, CrestHaven, Redskin, Harcrest, PF 24-007 and Fayette. We will try to use some of every variety and the season progresses. If you want to go beyond the Red Haven peach that everyone loves, try the White Lady, Coral Star or the huge PF24-007. No matter what you choose, they grow some of the best peaches that ever dripped down your chin!

If you don't have the chance to get out to Schultz's farm, you can find them and bunch of local farmers who actually grow their own products at the Texas Corner's "Fresh on Q" Farmers Market on Saturday mornings from 8am-12pm.

According to his biography Charles Hires discovered a recipe for a delicious herbal tea while on his honeymoon. The Philadelphia pharmacist's concoction was combination of twenty five herbs, berries and roots that was first introduced to the public at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Convention.

His recipe probably has it origins from Native Americans of the eastern seaboard who boiled sassafras roots to make tea.
The Hires family continued to manufacture root beer and in 1893 sold and distributed the first bottled root beer.

Every year on their vacation Keith and Lisa travel to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for the largest air show in the world. It turns out that Wisconsin is Root beer lovers heaven. One store, Woodman's, has a complete aisle dedicated to the frothy beverage. Keith and Lisa will be bringing home several different kinds of root beer for your enjoyment either with ice cream. A summer treat from back when times were much simpler.

For your enjoyment August 8-13

That's it for this month
Consider passing this on to a friend that hasn't visited us.

See you soon!
