Unused prescription medications are a health and safety hazard in our community. They threaten our waters when put in land fills or flushed, as septic and sewage treatment does not remove them. Also, they increasingly are a magnet for criminals due to their high street value.
To address this issue the Federal DEA is sponsoring its third local TAKE BACK event. On Saturday, October 29th from
10am - 2 pm bring your unused meds to the Island County Sheriff's South Precinct in Freeland (5521 East Harbor Road) , Coupeville Marshall's office ((#4 NE 7th Street), and the Oak Harbor Police Department (860 NE Barrington).
You can drop off all your unused or expired medications and know they will be disposed of properly. During the last event of this kind our community took in 82 lbs. in Freeland, approximately 25 lbs. in Coupeville, and 130 lbs. in Oak Harbor; a great response we hope to top!
