Greetings,

Tonight the Commissioners consider adoption of our 2012 
Budget. This proposal represents a 'steady state' budget -  holding current funding levels in most departments, while responding to a few critical needs arising from past staff reductions, and changes in state law.

The greatest unknown  at the local level is what will happen as the state legislature makes their cuts. The local impacts of these redutions are yet unknown.  This Island County Budget proposal does provides for a small contingency fund which can be redistributed once the local impact of the state cuts is clear.
