Ebey's Reserve Public Hearing
The Ebey's National Historic Reserve is the only National Park in the country under local control. The Reserve was established by interlocal agreement in 1988 between the National Parks Service, the Town of Coupeville, Island County and Washington State Parks. On September 26, 2011 at 6 pm there will be a public hearing to consider adoption of the Unified Design Review Guidelines and code updates for the Town of Coupeville and Island County. This multi-year collaborative effort with extensive public input creates a more streamlined and predictable permit process, and important protections for this unique historic resource. To view the documents please visit the Planning Dept. website. To learn more about the Reserve, please visit the Ebey's website. |

Redistricting for Commissioner's Districts
In compliance with state law, the Auditor's office is conducting a redistricting effort to more closely balance the populations of the Commissioner districts to reflect the new census numbers. The major change proposed is to move Penn Cove precinct from District #1 into District #2, and to incorporate the last decade's annexations into the City of Oak Harbor. To view the presentation from last night's meeting and access the supporting documents, visit the Commissioners' website. Public comment is welcome all this week, as official action is scheduled for Monday, September 19th. Thanks in advance for your input!
