What does A Better Chicago do?
A Better Chicago uses a venture capital approach to help low-income youth, adults and families to get the education and skills they need to stand on their own two feet.  They're a non profit making it easy for people to help make Chicago a better place to live and work, while providing the region's most effective nonprofit programs with the funding and support they need to realize their potential.
Why do you care?
A Better Chicago distinguishes themselves in four ways:
1.        100% impact: The board generously covers all of the operating expenses, so 100% of every dollar donated to A Better Chicago is invested in the region's most effective nonprofits.
2.        Rigorous due diligence: They do the homework for you. A Better Chicago only funds the most effective and innovative nonprofits in the region. Further, they continually track the grantees' performance to help them improve and hold them accountable to delivering results.
3.        Add value: Their investment goes beyond just dollars. They help the grantees tackle their biggest strategic and operational challenges by providing a variety of management support services. Examples include strategic planning, board development and communications assistance.
4.        Engagement: Their transparent investment approach helps donors to understand where their support is going, and how it is making a difference. Also, they provide opportunities for engagement with the grantees, such as volunteering or joining a board.
