One of the strategic directions the Libraries is pursuing is to build and nurture communities. We do so by exploring topics of shared interest among Drexel students, faculty, staff, as well as alumni, colleagues and friends beyond campus. In this issue, you will read about recent efforts to bring together alumni and students interested in Drexel's football program, triggered by an exhibit from the Archives, as well as seeking ways to encourage the preservation and celebration of the University's memories and legacy of its athletic program. FIVE STUDENTS TO HAVE DESIGNS FEATURED AT LIBRARY LEARNING TERRACE

Five Drexel students were recognized at a reception on Tuesday, January 17th, for their designs which will be prominently featured on the fabric screens of the Hub at the Library Learning Terrace. The moveable signs are part of the furniture, designed by Herman Miller, and offer a flexible way to create privacy for consultations. [more...]

EXHIBIT BRINGS DREXEL'S FOOTBALL ALUMNI TO THE LIBRARIES

January brought football to the Libraries for two Dragons on the Gridiron events on Wednesday, January 18th and Saturday, January 28th. This exhibition, tracing the history of football at Drexel University, was unveiled at 4 p.m. at the Opening Reception on January 18th, to an audience of students, staff, and football alumni. Linda M. G. Katz and Martha Kirby were asked to assist with a Liaison Committee on Medical Education's (LCME) self-study. LCME is the nationally recognized accrediting authority for medical education programs.
Liaison Librarian for Media Arts and Design, Tom Ipri, has created a new blog specifically to help Westphal Researchers.
Beth Ten Have, Director of Library Academic Partnerships, was an invited panelist at the Society for Scholarly Publishing's 2012 Librarian Focus Group event on January 31st in Washington DC.
Holly Tomren, Head of Metadata, is working with the E-Resource Advisory Council, along with ten library leaders, who will assist the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) in developing a new electronic resource management strategy.
