Greetings!

Welcome to the first edition of the STARskaters.org newsletter.  I hope you'll take a moment and look it over, and most importantly, use the link below to forward it to a friend who many benefit from any of STARskaters programs for individuals with special needs.

As with any non-profit organization, we're always in need of donations of all types.  Corporate sponsorship, personal contributions, and donations of your time as a volunteer or  donations of used hockey equipment are always welcomed.

The one comment I continually receive from our volunteers is how much satisfaction they get from seeing the smiles on the faces of our STAR skaters.  We'd enjoy the opportunity to share that experience with you as well.

Whether you'd like to skate or donate, please consider getting involved.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Jim ONeill

Sled Hockey Team Now Forming
Know a disabled athlete?  Tell them about Sled Hockey!
Sled Hockey
Sled Hockey is the fastest growing disabled sport in the USA, thanks to a Gold Medal performance by the USA Sled Hockey team at the 2010 Winter Olympics which were held in Vancouver, Canada.

The USA team not only won a gold medal, but they were undefeated and un-scored on in the tournament, outscoring their opponents 19-0.

We're looking for a few athletes to fill out the roster for our Houston Sled AEROS, to compete with teams already in place in Dallas and San Antonio.

We've outfitted an ice sled with wheels to make it easier to try the sled hockey experience.  As you can imagine, it is an outstanding upper body workout!

If you or someone you know would like to give Sled Hockey a try, contact David Fleming, the Captain of the Sled AEROS at david@STARskaters.org

STAR Sponsors!
Belknap ConcreteBelknap Concrete Cutting and Drilling

When STARskaters was founded in 2008, one of our earliest supporters were Ken and Kim Belknap.

Their generous donations of both time and money have helped us take STARskaters from a good idea to a great program for individuals with special needs.

The Belknaps own Belknap Concrete Cutting & Drilling and can always be found very close to a sheet of ice.  Their son Kenny is a player for the newly formed TKO ISHL Varsity team, Tomball Kingwood Organization.

Kim is the Prep Commissioner for ISHL, the Interscholastic Hockey League, and the entire family can be spotted sitting on the glass at Houston AEROS games.

Lilia has been involved with STARskaters literally since day one.  Whenever there is a STAR event, you'll find Lilia front and center passing out literature, explaining the skating programs and always with a big smile on her face.

When you attend the next AEROS game, look for Lilia outside section 106 and stop by and say hello and thank her for the generous donation of her time and efforts to benefit all our STAR skaters!
