At the centre of your being, you have the answer; you know who you are
and you know what you want - Lao Tzu

The water bug, skims the pond and darts from one superficial activity to the other, but never submerges to discover treasures under the surface.
If you are looking for meaning in your life, you cannot be a water bug. Outside forces will randomly affect your mood, and you will have no anchor. Living life mindfully is the difference between ageing and growing. If you lie in bed and do nothing every day you will still get older.
What can you do to grow?
Here is a list of questions you can work with, taken from The Bold Living Guide, by Barrie Davenport
- Where do I have fear?
- What or who makes me angry?
- What makes me insecure?
- What issues, comments or situations make me defensive?
- Where do I feel stuck?
- What beliefs am I holding on that no longer serve me?
- What parts of my life feel empty or flat?
- What do other people say about me?
- What negative influences do I have in my life?
As you answer these questions dig deeper and ask yourself 'why?' For example: what do I fear? - making mistakes. Why do I fear making mistakes? - I am embarrassed. Why do mistakes embarrass me? - They make me feel stupid. Why do I feel stupid? - Because I don't feel smart enough. Why don't I feel smart enough? - Because I was never good at math. Keep asking why till you run out of answers.
If you have difficulty walking this road on your own you can work with a coach.
Asking and answering these questions leads to an awareness of your limitations. Once you know what's holding you back you can do something about it.
