: Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow - Douglas Pagel

Many years ago I taught at prep school. I remember one little boy drawing and colouring in black. He also seemed angry and didn't play with the others. I knew from my training in psychology that this suggested some inner 'darkness' and so was not surprised by what I learnt a short while later.
His mother had died, he told me, and there were lots of flowers and lots of people. His father cried a lot and his sister took care of them. His world was dark, no wonder his mood was too.
What colour is your mood right now? What does that colour mean to you? For you? What was it when you woke up? What changed it along the way?
What brings on a certain colour? What takes it away?
Just as you can change the colour of your clothes to suit your mood, you can choose thoughts and attitudes that determine the colour of your mood.
Colour is an amazing gift from nature. It is a living energy that is perceived and absorbed by your senses. It has a subtle yet potent interaction with your emotions, nervous system and brain. And by tracking the colour of your mood you can identify patterns and habits that bolster you or diminish you.
Just as you may keep a diary of the foods you eat to identify irritants; or what you spend your money on to identify 'leakages', start monitoring your mood today. As you become aware of your mood, you can begin to weave in the colours that bolster you more and more.
