In the movie 'In Time' one is born with 25 years worth of time. Any additional time must be earned. Time is the currency for all transactions - salaries, gifts, purchases are all made in 'time'.
Those who love share time. And thieves steal time. Time meters are locked up in great vaults and protected by the tightest security.
Moving away from the make believe movie, I ask, what are you doing with your time? How much time are you giving to worthy causes, and how much is being squandered? Who is stealing your time? How are protecting it? Are you earning additional time?
How you are expensing the time you have?
Just as it is with money, there are some regular expenses - like sleep and work, or study, depending on your life stage. If you are spending much less than 30% of your time on sleep, look again. You are not spending enough time sleeping. Work/study will account for 40 -50%, including time spent getting to and from work or school. What are you doing with the remaining 20 -30%? Financial coaches speak of leaks. Those little expenditures that, put together, account for a tidy sum. When you become aware of these leaks you can patch up your pockets and save money for something you have always thought to be out of reach.
So it is with time. How much of your time is going to things you enjoy doing? How much is a matter of duty? How much do you while away, unaware, wandering neither here nor there? By becoming aware of how you spend your time, you can begin to channel it into things that bring you meaning, contentment and balance. You can 'create more time'. In the movie it was 'earning time'.
What will you do with more time?
