MEET THAT NEED

 live!

You have probably seen a 2 year old throwing a tantrum. As children grow older and learn to use language they throw fewer tantrums. This is because they learn to express their needs and so have them met.

Adults too can 'throw tantrums' when they are ill equipped to deal with needs. This may be manifested in aggressive behavior or the silent treatment. One way to combat feelings of frustration arising from unmet needs is to express yourself assertively. I will write more on this in a forthcoming issue. Today, I would like to focus on why you should pay attention to your needs and how you are meeting them.

To start off list down your current needs. I say current because needs can be situational, arising from changes in your life. Such is the case for a new mother, who may find the need for sleep coming to the fore, or for a new employee who may find a need to be accepted coming up.
