The term coach originated in the sports field somewhere in the late 1880s, and has been a well-known sports profession with many different forms for years.
However, today's growth in coaching really stems from the 1980s when large companies began to offer executive coaching to help improve the performance of their top executives. It has been further fuelled by a breakdown in traditional support structures that see individuals having to find their own way, rather than fitting into predetermined communal roles.

| WHAT'S YOUR ATTITUDE TO MONEY DOING TO YOUR BUSINESS? |
It has happened to me several times. I contact someone to provide a service. When I ask how much it will cost, they respond 'whatever you think'. Incredible! In fact, for some people, discussing money is a problem, and they are uncomfortable when the issue is brought up. So you have situations where people enter into a 'contract' without discussing the fees or cost. If at the end the client is happy to pay whatever is asked, that's okay. Sometimes, though, disputes arise because the client thinks the cost is too high, yet arguing after the fact is hardly the best way to proceed.
