National Health Security Strategy (December 2009)
While some of you may already be familiar with this strategy, or may have read the document when it came out, we would like to re-emphasize this valuable healthcare preparedness document. The NHSS is designed to achieve two goals:
* build community resilience
* strengthen and sustain health and emergency response systems
The strategy is intended to minimize the health consequences associated with significant health incidents and provide a framework for how the nation will seek to achieve national health security. This is a foundational document supporting the "A Whole Community Approach to Emergency Management: Principles, Themes, and Pathways for Action". It's worth a review.

Release of Updated NIMS Training Program
The National Integration Center has completed development of a National Incident Management System Training Program to supersede the Five-Year NIMS Training Plan released in February 2008. The new training program establishes a common national foundation for NIMS training and qualifying emergency management and incident response personnel. More specifically, the NIMS Training Program guides NIMS training activities; supports stakeholder training and planning; and serves as a single-source, regularly updated compilation of training within the NIMS national core curriculum. The training program outlines responsibilities and activities that are consistent with the National Training Program and integrates with FEMA training offered through the Emergency Management Institute and the U.S. Fire Administration.
