Rain or shine, Wilson Brothers Heating and Air Conditioning will hold a Charity Garage Sale on Saturday, October 1st from 8 am - 2 pm. To be held in their 35 Lomar Park Drive parking lot (or in the garage in the event of rain), the garage sale will feature surplus equipment and supplies from the Wilson Brothers warehouse, along with furniture, toys, books, games, household goods, electronics, fitness equipment, small appliances, and various and sundry items donated by Wilson Brothers and its employees.

Proceeds from the event are earmarked for the Pepperell Food Pantry. In addition, Wilson Brothers Heating and Air Conditioning will have a food collection box available for non-perishables and canned goods that the public is invited to bring to the Charity Garage Sale.

"The PACH Food Pantry is a mission of love and faith to serve the people of the community. We decided that a Charity Garage Sale was something new and exciting to raise money for this worthy cause. This our way of giving back to the communities who have supported Wilson Brothers in the past," said Tom Wilson. The Charity Garage Sale will run from 8 am until 2 pm on Saturday, October 1st. In the event of rain, the event will be moved inside the spacious Wilson Brothers garage.

If you questions, or if you have an item you'd like to donate to the Charity Garage Sale, call Bonnie Wright at 978-433-5373. Visit the PACH Web site at http://www.pachoutreach.org.

  Fall Preparations for the

  Coming Winter SeasonPrep

It's mid-September and although the mornings and evenings are becoming cooler, we don't want to think about the season that is just around the corner! The following is a check-list of what you should consider doing right now to prepare for Winter:

  • Clean out your gutters of all debris to make sure water can flow unobstructed.
  • Check your basement sump pump to make sure it is in working order.
  • Clean your fireplace flue.
  • Have your primary heating system cleaned and tuned up. A good inspection of your entire system can avoid break-downs when you need your heat the most.
  • Turn off outdoor water spickets at the valves inside the house and drain the pips.
  • Be sure to blow out your water sprinkler irrigation system.
  • Check the weather stripping on all your doors and windows. Add or replace if necessary.
  • Shut off the breaker to your outdoor condenser and cover the top of the condenser for protection against snow and ice (does not apply to heat pumps).
  • Check all electric heat tape on any exposed heat or domestic water piping in cold areas.
  • Add insulation to piping in areas where pipes might freeze.
  • Install an electric ice melt on the edge of your roof and in gutters where ice builds up.
  • If you have anti-freeze in your heating system piping, have it checked for proper freeze protection.
  • Be prepared in case of a power outage. Check and start your generator, making sure you have a secondary source of heat.
  • If you do have a heat pump, make sure it is clear all around the unit for good air flow.
  • If you have an oil system, make sure there is a clear path to your oil fill pipe (and keep it clear in the winter).

If you have any questions about preparing your home for winter, call Wilson Brothers Heating and Air Conditioning at 978-433-5373.
