Greetings!
It's that time of year again! Tom and Bill Latourette are getting ready for this years event! Last year, we raised over $60,000 to help the families of Sally Gorney-Avila and Jake Spachner along with The Cancer Care Foundation. In 8 years, our outing has raised over $135,000. THANK YOU!
This year, we're asking for your help to do even more. Here's the list of folks your contributions and / or support will help this year!
Cody Neilson - Cody is almost 4 years old, suffering from a rare blood disease called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis or LCH. The disease can be chronic, debilitating and life-threatening. His bravery throughout his various surgeries, colonoscopies, endoscopies, steroid and chemotherapy treatments is truly inspirational.
Sharon Charalambous - is the mother of two little children and since 2008 has been battling a very rare form of cancer called "Leiomyosarcoma", affecting the smooth muscle cells which make up our involuntary muscles. She is currently undergoing treatment and staying at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Zion, IL. The family recently declared bankruptcy because of the enormous financial strain, and we're hoping to offset some of their cost with funds from this year's event.
Karen Burde - is the mother of a 19 year old daughter who is termed a "medical miracle". Paralyzed from the neck down, Stephanie has needed constant care and supervision all her life. 6 months ago, Karen was diagnosed with breast cancer. Husband and father, Tim, is currently out of work, taking care of both his wife and daughter. Funds from our outing will help this family tremendously.
Sally's Studio - last year, Sally Gorney-Avila lost her struggle with cancer. This year we'll honor her memory and love of art by starting and funding an Art Therapy program for cancer patients and their families at Lutheran General's new Oncology Unit.
The Cancer Care Foundation - is a nonprofit organization that offers free counseling and support services to cancer patients and their loved ones. We've supported them for the last 5 years. (click here to learn more about The Cancer Care Foundation)
