 LATEST NEWS

Principal's Corner

As the year comes to an end, Bridge School celebrates many traditions.  A favorite by staff and students is Field Day.  This year, we have decided to change the format from recommendations by staff and parents.  We will not be hosting a bar-b-que as we have in the past.  However, we would like to invite all parents and families to join us for all or part of the morning.  The schedule is as follows:

Field Day 2012

June 15th (Rain date June 18th)

THE OLYMPICS

Opening Ceremonies 8:45 am

All students and staff parade out with signs to the basketball court.  Each classroom will choose a country of their choice to represent.   The national anthem is played, classrooms are announced, etc.  Please feel free to join us around the perimeter of the basketball court.

Grades 4 & 5:  9:00-10:00

Grades K & 1: 10:15-11:15

Grades 2 & 3: 11:30-12:30

Students circulate to various activities facilitated by staff.  Feel free to watch your child participate.

Another tradition the students look forward to is "Move Up Day."  This is a day when students visit a classroom (chosen at random) in the grade that they will be entering in the fall.  They learn about curriculum, field trips they might take, activities they will be engaged in, etc.  This will be held on Monday, June 18th from 9:00 am - 9:30 am.

The Grade 5 students enjoy playing kickball against the staff.  Feel free to join us on June 18th from 1:30-3:00 (rain date June 19th at 9:00 am)  as the fifth graders try their luck at beating the staff in a fun filled game.  Students in Grade K-4 are invited to watch and cheer on the staff and students.

Thank a Bridge School Staff Member by Granting Their Wishing Well Wish
Wishing Well grants make great end-of-year gifts for your child's teacher!  The Wishing Well is closing for the school year on Jun 1, 2012.  Our goal is to grant all of the staff's remaining wishes by that date.   Kindly consider granting a wish for your child's teacher or one of the Bridge School staff members.

The following staff members still have Wishes left in the Wishing Well:
Ms. Baranofsky, Ms. Yee, Ms. Hinton, Ms. OReilly, 2nd Grade Teachers, Ms. Conway,  Ms. Bean, Ms. Colby, Ms. Gates,  and Ms. Croy.

If you would like to grant a wish (or get together with a group of parents to grant a wish), you may either purchase the wish item directly and give it to the teacher or you may send a check to the Bridge School PTA.  Please put the name of the teacher and the wish in the memo section of your check before sending it along.  There is a dedicated box for the Wishing Well on the PTA table.  Contact Shannon Amsler for more information.

Wishes granted during  this past week:
  • Ms. Sciarretta's wish for a white board was granted by parents in her classroom.
  • Mr. Lambert's wish for a Staples gift card was granted by the Konijnenberg/Bennema family.
  • Ms. Diamant's wish for storage bins was granted by her classroom.
  • Ms. Colby's wish for a large white board was granted by the Gollerkeri family.
  • Ms. Arena'a wishes for an electric sharpener and staplers were granted by the Sweeney Family.
  • The Stevenson and Finkelman/Tentindo family granted Ms. Werbeloff's wishes for Lego gift cards.
Thank you for your generosity! More than 53 wishes have been granted this year!
