Quote of the Week

"They know, they just know where to grow, how to dupe you, and how to camouflage themselves among the perfectly respectable plants, they just know, and therefore, I've concluded weeds must have brains."

 Did You Know?

The word "squash" originates from the Massachusett Indian word askutasquash, and translated means "eaten raw or uncooked." The soft-skinned varieties such as zucchini, can be sliced and sautéed with skins on, added to soups or eaten raw, while the hard-skinned squashes such as Hubbard or acorn are baked in the shell or boiled and can be stored for several months (some such as Triamble can be stored for as long as three years). Soft-skinned varieties are often called summer squashes and the hard-skinned are known as winter squashes. Whether summer or winter squash, both are excellent sources of vitamin A.
