A New Rose Garden in Trieste
By: Sharon Asakawa

Knowing that I would be in Trieste, Italy for about 10 days this summer, I began web surfing to see if there were more interesting sites that I had not visited before. To my surprise, I came across an article written by landscape architect, Vladimir Vremec who described a rose garden in the Trieste district of San Giovanni begun in 2004.

Did You Know?

Capsaicin puts the heat in Chile peppers and provides the punch in pepper spray. It also repels deer and rabbits, but not birds. Peppers are a rich source of vitamins A, C and E as well as folic acid and potassium. Avoid drinking water as a remedy for eating a pepper too hot for the palate because capsaicin is an oil and does not mix with water. Water only spreads the heat to other parts of the mouth! It is better to eat rice, bread, yogurt or ice cream because they can absorb capsaicin.
