Quote of the
Week
""The grand
show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at
once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising; eternal sunrise,
eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn,
as the round earth
rolls." ...John Muir

Did You
Know?
Botanically speaking, a tomato is a fruit because its ovary
and seeds are from a flowering plant. But in the United States, this designation
became embroiled in the courts in 1887 when the U.S. imposed a tariff duty on
imported vegetables, but not on fruits. Finally in 1893, the Supreme Court
settled the controversy by ruling that the tomato is a vegetable because they
were served with dinner and not dessert. However, the court did not reclassify
the tomato for botanical purposes and only reclassified it as it applied to the
Tariff Act of 1883. Obviously the justices never tasted Tomaccio tomatoes
because, when dried they are sweeter than raisins! |
