Medusa's Head
SUPER SUCCULENT

Euphorbia flanaganii
Here's a downright weird succulent with "arms" arising out of a basal
area. Euphorbia flanaganii's common name comes from the legendary Medusa, who was changed
into a monster with hissing serpents in place of hair. Medusa's head responds well to warmth,
with its active growth period in the late spring and summer months.

Remember when our parents served us "Popeye's Spinach" and celery sticks filled with peanut butter and raisins were "Ants on a Log"? Not surprisingly, researchers at Cornell University found that children eat more vegetables when they are given cool names. Carrots are more appealing when called "X-Ray Vision Carrots" as well as "Faster-than-Light Flying Saucers" (cucumbers) and "Trees from the Enchanted Forest" (broccoli). Try creative ways to label vegetables and watch your youngsters gobble up their veggies. | Whats Growing in Our Gardens? __________________________________________________________________
