Access to
Water Meter Lids

While performing seasonal lawn maintenance or other outdoor work, please take a moment to check that the lid to your water meter, usually located in the front yard near the sidewalk, is accessible and unobstructed by plants or other landscape material.  This helps our Utilities staff in taking timely & accurate meter readings.  Inaccurate or incomplete readings may result in estimates of your monthly water usage.  It is also vital that Utilities staff have access to the meter for any maintenance or repairs that may be necessary.

Be sure to clear all plantings & tall grasses within 1 ft. on either side of the meter lid, and remove any overhanging shrubs or branches within 2 ft. above the meter lid.

Our meter readers appreciate your cooperation.  Please contact the Utility Billing office at 720-304-6797 with any questions about your water bill.

NAME THE PARK CONTEST!

Don't miss out on your opportunity to come up with a creative name for the Town's newest park area and facilities!

This summer the Town marked the completion of three new recreational amenities as part of a project referred to as the "3 Parks Project."  This is the area near the intersection of Honey Creek Lane and Rock Creek Parkway between the Saddlebrooke and Horizons neighborhoods.  This complex includes the Superior Bike Park, Superior Dog Park and Superior Disc Golf Course Park, and also includes Rock Creek Regional Trail, Rock Creek waterway and more than 30 acres of natural space.  Now that the facility is open, it is time to come up with a fitting name for the area.  If you haven't had a chance to visit the site yet, grab your bike or walking shoes and head over to check it out.  The construction phase of this project has ended and it's time give it a name that captures just what this park area is - dozens of acres of largely undeveloped space traversed by the Rock Creek waterway that now has three separate amenities blended into the area offering recreational opportunities for a diverse range of ages and interests.  Please note that the current construction work along the creek is to stabilize and improve the bank along this section of the waterway, and will include the installation of a pedestrian bridge.  This work should be completed by November.

The contest is open to all Superior residents and is based on the following parameters:

  • Participants are invited to submit via surveymonkey.com (CLICK HERE) a name idea with a brief explanation as to why it is the best name for this park facility.
  • Entry ideas will be reviewed by the Town's Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trail Advisory Committee (PROSTAC), who will choose the top 5 ideas and present these to the Board of Trustees for final selection.
  • Finalists will receive gift cards to local businesses in the amounts of $50 (4 runner-ups) and $75 for the Winner.
  • Please CLICK HERE to submit your entry, or mail to Town Hall, attn: PROS Department, 124 E. Coal Creek Drive, Superior, CO 80027.

SUPERIOR CEMETERY TOMBSTONE TOUR

Morton gravestone image

Yes, there is a cemetery in Superior. The Superior Historical Commission will host its first ever "Tombstone Tour" of our historic cemetery on Saturday, October 15th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The cemetery, located just south of Avista Hospital on the south side of US 36, is one of the older cemeteries in Boulder County. The first burial on record there took place in 1873 and the last in 1949. Historical Commission members and volunteers will be on hand to provide information about interesting people and sites in the cemetery. Parking will be in the Avista Hospital south lot followed by a walk through the tunnel under highway 36.

Participants should plan for walking in uneven terrain and wear appropriate clothing, footwear and sunscreen. Signs and Superior Cub Scouts will provide directions to the parking area. Please avoid parking in the reserved spaces.

The Superior Cemetery Tombstone Tour is a free community activity; however, we do ask that you RSVP through the Town's Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department by emailing Patrick Hammer at patrickh@superiorcolorado.gov. You may RSVP through October 14th
.

TOWN HALL GOES 24/7 WITH ASK SUPERIOR

It's easier than ever to contact the Town of Superior

Superior has made it easier for you to contact us with your requests, questions, and concerns.  In September, we launched "Ask Superior", a new system that allows you to contact us 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week in whatever way is most convenient - online or by contacting Town Hall by phone, fax, mail, or in person. Ask Superior is also available to iPhone and Android smart phone users by downloading a free application.

Ask Superior makes it seem as if there's a staff member on call around the clock to help you.  If you prefer to make a request, comment, or question online, just click the Ask Superior logo on our home page www.superiorcolorado.gov; the system features simple pull-down menus and is a breeze to use.  If you prefer to call, walk-in, fax, or mail your request during normal business our staff will enter it right into the Ask Superior system.

No matter which way you choose to contact us, you don't have to know which employee or department is responsible for a specific service - the system ensures the right person is contacted.  And if you prefer to make your request or comment confidentially, you'll always have that option too.

Ask Superior greatly improves the way the Town handles your requests by...

  • Creating a unique tracking number for each request to easily track its status at any time.
  • Automatically provides the status of your request and notifies you when the request has been completed.
  • Allows you to contact the Town whenever it's most convenient for you.
We recognize that you may have questions about Ask Superior, and we believe that once you use the system, you'll see how intuitive and easy it is.  In the meantime, just contact Jay Wolffarth or call 303-499-3675 if you'd like to discuss Ask Superior.

BOULDER COUNTY YOUTH CORPS RECOGNIZED

BCYC with Mayor Muckle

During the September 26 Town Board meeting the Town recognized members of the Boulder County Youth Corps.  The BCYC provides ten area teenagers the opportunity to work in the Town's parks and open space areas during the summer.

We want to thank these area teenagers and their Team Leaders for their contributions to our community.

STREET LIGHTS
Don't Be Left In The Dark!
Street lamp image

Well-lit sidewalks & streets improve visibility at night and help make our neighborhoods safe for pedestrian & vehicles alike, especially with the onset of shorter daylight hours in the months ahead.  Public street lights in the Town of Superior are maintained by Xcel Energy, not including lighting in private parking lots or commercial areas.  If you notice a burned-out street light in your neighborhood, it can be reported directly to Xcel at the following web address:  http://www1.xcelenergy.com/ODL/OUTAGEREPORT/.  You will be asked to complete an online form with information about the location of the light pole, the nature of the problem & your contact information for any follow-up.  It is most helpful to Xcel's repair crews if you can provide the identifying numbers located on each pole's yellow "Facility Tag".  This will ensure that crews find & correct the problem light when they are making repairs during daylight hours.  This form can also be accessed from the Town of Superior's website  www.superiorcolorado.gov, using the designated link located on the Public Works Department's page. Outages can also be reported by phone to Xcel's customer service line at 1-800-895-4999.

Repairs may take up to several weeks, depending on the extent of repairs needed, weather conditions and the backlog of work orders Xcel is trying to address.

Walk through your home and look for fire hazards and address them.

Examine your home fire extinguishers and ensure they are not expired and still have pressure.

The Indiana Street fire station is nearing completion.  We will announce on the Town's website and our website when the community room will be open for event scheduling.  This will be an on-line process, which will not be complete until you have spoken directly with an RMF employee and all agreements have been signed.  As always be fire safe and for more information or to contact us please visit our website at www.rockymountainfire.org

CODE ENFORCEMENT CORNER

Each month, the Town includes information about issues and trends in the area of code enforcement.  During the month of September, 32 code violations were identified, primarily right-of-way obstructions such as basketball hoops, RV's, and trailers. Thirty of these were promptly corrected, resulting in an 94% compliance rate.

This month, we want to remind residents of the regulation regarding the parking of detached trailers and recreational vehicles within the Town.

Sec. 10-2-70.  Parking of detached trailers and recreational vehicles

(c)   Recreational vehicles. It is unlawful to continuously park any recreational vehicle for more than five (5) days on any public street, alley or right-of-way. The same standard applies to all detached trailers parked or stored on any public street, alley or right-of-way.

Upon witness of graffiti related activity within the Town, please contact the Boulder County Sheriffs Department at 303-441-4444. To report a graffiti sighting/location please contact the Town of Superior at 303-499-3675.

Questions regarding the Town's code enforcement program should be directed to our Code Enforcement Officer at Town Hall, Reggie Nettles, at 303-499-3675 ext. 165, or reggien@townofsuperior.com.
