Volunteers Needed to Decide 
2013 to 2015 Community Priorities

SAUW invites you to be a S.M.A.R.T. Community Improvement Goal Application Reviewer.

 

This essential role will establish the Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Reasonable, and Timely (S.M.A.R.T.) Community Improvement Goals for United Way for 2013 to 2015. 

 

 We are inviting you to be on a review team for one of the topic areas: Health, Financial Stability or Education, to evaluate and score reports.  Each team of 10 to 12 volunteers will have 3 to 4 S.M.A.R.T. Community Improvement Goals and Budget Plan Reports to review. 

 

May 8, 5 - 6 p.m. Introduction, Training, Meet Your Team at SAUW

United Way Makes the Final Four in GSCF Match Madness   

We are pleased to announce that SAUW came in third place out of 42 participating charities in terms of total giving and the match from the Greater SalinaCommunity Foundation.  "Our goal was to make it to the Final Four and we did!" says Executive Director, Andy Martin.

 

Our "Team United Way" stats are as follows:

  • A total of 30 new individual donors to the SAUW endowment
  • $4,991.40 increase in endowment funds
  • $1,875 in cash match gifts from the Community Foundation
  • $200 hourly winning and $100 bonus grants thanks to our donors
  • $544.60 in support of the Fund for Greater Salina at the Community Foundation
Thank you for helping us achieve our goal.

Early Childhood Forum

Guest Speaker Barry Downing, Wichita, will jump start the round table discussions for pre-kindergarten education. Downing has a strong commitment to under resourced children. Discussion topics include: The Role of Businesses, The Power of Families, and Partners in Early Childhood Education (PIECE).

Held at the Masonic Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Lunch will be provided at no cost to attendees; however, donations would be appreciated.
