Community Forums 
Salina Area United Way is leading a series of community forums to promote its mission of strengthening the community.  

Each forum will be hosted by Joyce Volk, SAUW Community Engagement Team member, and held at the Masonic Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Lunch will be provided at no cost to attendees; however, donations would be appreciated.

Recognition will be given to businesses, organizations, and foundations for their contribution during the 2011 Campaign.  


At the luncheon, results from the 
2011 Campaign will include the drawings in the categories for the payroll deduction and individual donor gifts.  Five lucky United Way donors will receive the following 2011 incentive gifts:  

  • 2012 Ford Fiesta two year lease from Long McArthur
  • Fire Ring with retaining wall grate grill from Salina Concrete Products
  • $500 gift certificate to Ashley Furniture
  • Two round-trip airline tickets from SeaPort Airlines
  • $1,500 gift certificate for outdoor cabinets from Crestwood, Inc.

Healthy Communities Healthy Youth Forum

Table discussions will focus around closing the gap between m
edical and mental healthcare, youth mentors and homework helpers, drug and alcohol prevention coalitions and Kansas 2-1-1 as a resource for youth and young adults.
 Guest Speakers: Salina Family HealthCare, Central Kansas Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salina, and Salina South High School.

Financial Stability Forum

Speaker topics and round table discussions will focus on financial management education, Circles poverty prevention, and homelessness in the Salina area. Guest Speakers: Representatives from Ashby House and Consumer Credit Counseling.

Early Childhood Forum

Guest Speaker Barry Downing, Wichita, will jump start the round table discussions for pre-kindergarten education. Downing has a strong commitment to under resourced children. Discussion topics include: The Role of Businesses, The Power of Families, and Partners in Early Childhood Education (PIECE).
