Sandy Chambers Headshot - Revised

Leadership is really not a trait that one is born with, but rather developed and learned.

There are some people that have natural leadership ability but its not like they are immediately infused with this ability to lead people.

If you want to be a leader, you must always develop your people skills. Relating to people and identifying with people will position you as someone that people will want to follow.

Here are some traits from Dale Carnegie that will help you with being a leader:

  1. Begin with praise and honest appreciation.
  2. Call attention to people's mistakes indirectly.
  3. Talk about your own mistakes before criticizing the other person.
  4. Ask questions instead of giving direct orders.
  5. Let the other person save face.
  6. Praise the slightest improvement and praise every improvement. Be "hearty in your approbation and lavish in your praise".
  7. Give the other person a fine reputation to live up to.
  8. Use encouragement. Make the fault seem easy to correct.
  9. Make the other person happy about doing the thing you suggest.

I especially love trait #1 listed above. Because who do you know that doesn't love to be praised and given honest appreciation?

I can't think of to many. I know I do.

There is no greater feeling then to know that you're appreciated.

Showing appreciation breeds loyalty, and a sense of belonging. People love to be a part of something great, and share in an environment of caring individuals.

What about point #6? Do you like to be praised when you improve in something? It's very reassuring for someone when they know they do something right and they are doing something good.

Praise is something that everybody needs and enjoys. Even if somebody says they don't need it, guess what? They need it!

I will close with point #7. Think only the best of the other person. Praise them and help them to recognize their strengths not their weaknesses.

When you help people to focus on what they are good at, and where their strengths are, you will be the leader they want to follow. Enjoy this list and study them. They are some of the greatest principles of leadership you can acquire.

As John C. Maxwell says "Leadership is influence" so develop your influence and put these principles from Dale Carnegie into action. You will see your influence go up.

Have a wonderful day today!

THE ONE-HOUR SOLUTION

Adapted from the book by Richard Carlson

"Don't Worry, Make Money".

clock

Home based businesses are turning hundreds of everyday, ordinary people into wealthy ones, and dozens into millionaires.  Most businesses are simple, fun, and require very little time, experience or initial cash to get started.

So what's the problem? Well, as is so often the case, fear and worry are the biggest dream stealers and success killers. Excuses like "I don't have the time", "I'm not sure what my friends or family will think", "I'm not a salesperson", and other similar fear-based mind-chatter are the biggest self-defeating emotions in our lives. FEAR is the anticipation of PAIN. What would happen if you put aside those fears and focused on all the pleasure it would bring you to be healthy, wealthy and happy?

Try the "ONE-HOUR SOLUTION". You don't have to quit your job, change careers or take on any great risk. But there is a catch! The catch is that you must actually spend an entire, non-interrupted hour, each day (Mon-Fri) doing the most critical activities that move your business forward. In most businesses that would be Prospecting for new people and Presenting your business to new people. Most people squander their time by doing all kinds of other activities that are not "money-producing".

Now this four years may not be easy. There will be a learning curve for some, many bumps in the road, disappointments and challenges. But doing this 1 hour solution can bring you financial independence. Do it without fear or worry of any kind. Just focus on the rewards. If you do, within 2 years you will be on your way to financial independence. In 4 years you could probably retire rich (and be enjoying lunch with Donald Trumps of the world)!

So let's compare. Either you work 4 years for 1 hour per day and retire rich like 3% of the world. Or work 40 years at 8 hours per day and retire broke like the 97%.

So, what's it going to be? Four years hard-labor, or life in prison?

No Short Cuts To The TOP!

MXI Ambassador, Ian Murray

is Climbing Mt. Rainier in May!

Mt. Rainier

It was June 19th, 2010 at our annual MXI Convention that I had an opportunity of personally meeting Ed Viesturs, our keynote speaker. I had devoured his book "No Shortcuts To The Top" which recounted how he  had successfully climbed all 14 mountains exceeding 8,000 meters without the aid of supplemental oxygen.
One of eight humans in the world to do this which took him 18 years to achieve. I was excited to meet him and of course asked him to sign my dog eared copy to which he wrote  " To Ian - See You On Rainier!".

The plan was that MXI had asked several of us if we would  climb  Mount Rainier with Ed the following July.
I jumped at the opportunity.  Just to have the experience of spending several days with an individual that had such incredible focus and a leadership mindset. All together there were 6 of us committed and we went on stage in front of all the distributors at the convention with ice picks held high with Ed  - No Shortcuts To The Top.
I left the convention on purpose to get in the best shape of my life to take on this challenge.

Fast forward to the Gold Bullion cruise in January 2011 where I had an opportunity to meet with the company to see if I could finalize an exact date of when the climb was scheduled. I was not prepared for what happened next.
It would seem that  I was the only one not aware that the company had made a decision that it was too great a liability and the rest of the "team" had not been training due to this change of plans. I had made a commitment to myself when I left that stage in June that I was going to climb Rainier.

Upon returning to Canada,  I looked at my limited options as booking for Rainier fill up extremely quickly as it is the testing grounds for mountains such as Everest in  the Himalayas and Denali in Alaska. As I went through the bookings...3 day summit climb - all booked, 4 day summit climb - all booked - 6 day Expedition Skill Seminar... available May 22 - May 27  - includes 3 days at 10,000' learning glacier climbing skills as well as a push for the Summit (14,440') - I booked it immediately.

So...I am going to climb Mount Rainier - Previously to the Cruise, I have been  working my own plan with a personal trainer for  several months as I assumed (we all know what that means) that I would not be climbing until July 2011. There is a  saying  "When the Student is ready the Teacher appears". Two days after I had booked my 6 day expedition, my daughter Erin introduced me to Eric Batty. Eric is a Pro Mountain Biker sponsored by Trek Bikes. Eric is also an accomplished and avid mountain climber who has summited Rainier. He has put together a very intensive training program for me so that I will be prepared for this journey in the next 63 days.

I would like  to take all of you along with me on this climb - I will share with you what I have done to get to this point in time and what my training is going to be as we get closer to the kick off date of May 22nd, 2011. I will also have on me a GPS that will allow you to follow my climb on Google Earth and receive text messages on Facebook and Twitter that I will send from Rainier during my  6 day expedition.

There are "No Shortcuts To the Top" and I look forward to sharing with all of you my thoughts and experiences in the next couple of months.

To The Top!

Xocai has been life-changing...I don't mean to sound cliche...but it is so true! With regards to the last brilliant high-antioxidant wellness product that MXI introduced, the X-Protein Meal Replacement, I couldn't be more thrilled!

There is nothing like consuming 2 shakes a day and 3 Xocai Healthy Chocolates, along with 5 bottles of water, a daily walk and a great, full meal. I look and feel great, I am slimmer, happier and I have a ton of energy and sharing this with everyone I know has been so much fun.

People tell me that they are now doing the shake with me, because of my ongoing success story, MXI's success story, and my passion and sincere, deep desire to help others achieve their goals in life. I ate the Omega Square 3 x daily for 3 weeks, and wasn't I shocked to no longer have the osteoarthritis symptoms in my right knee. No more pain, inflammation and discomfort which in turn allows me to sleep well, and walk pain-free and with confidence.

How validating is all of this? 100%! This is so rewarding personally and financially.

I am going to the top, with my fabulous team (who all have their success stories of significant weight and inch loss, no more acid reflux more energy, better heart health and more). With the  support from Janet Hurley, Judy and Ian Murray, and others (you know who you are!).

I will never stop eating and sharing these life-changing products and stories.

I am so proud to be a Canadian and Global Distributor with MXI and very grateful to Jeanette Brooks and her family who have made this all possible. I have always joked that I was born to eat chocolate...does anything else exist?

Who would have guessed that Xocai Healthy Chocolate would be the very thing I could eat guilt-free and make a promising and secure future with. We are all 3 feet from Gold!

Never stop dreaming and we will all live our dreams to the fullest! Got to run, and eat a delicious piece of Xocai Healthy chocolate...don't you?
