A public hearing will be held regarding proposed state Administrative Rules changes for the federal Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) and the state Shelter Assistance Fund (SAF). The changes in the state ESG rules are proposed in order to comply with the revised federal ESG regulations that took effect January 4, 2012. Because these programs have been administered in close partnership in the past, additional changes are also required to the SAF rules, including where the SAF rules reference the ESG rules. The public hearing is scheduled for 1:30-2:30 PM on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, in the Presentation Room of the Iowa Finance Authority located at 2015 Grand Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa.

On Wednesday, May 23, 2012, the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness will be hosting a webinar "...to share advice from successful efforts on how to develop a comprehensive approach that effectively brings the resources available to Veterans in need to improve housing and life outcomes."
Panelists include the USICH Executive Director, Barbara Poppe; Veterans Health Administration's National Director, Lisa Pape; Arizona Coalition to End Homelessness' Executive Director, Joan Serviss; and a leader from the field on coordinating a local response to veteran homelessness.

Reminder of Upcoming Emergency Solutions Grant New Application Informational Webinars |
Webinar trainings will be hosted by the Iowa Finance Authority regarding upcoming funding competitions for the state Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG). Competitions will address two separate sources of ESG funding: the first for FY 2011 Phase II funds and the second for unallocated FY 2012 funds. Informational webinars for the competition for FY 2011 Phase II funds will be held on May 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. CST and also on May 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. CST (register for one only). Informational webinars regarding the competition for FY 2012 funds will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. CST as well as Monday, May 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. CST (register for one only).
