Raptor Enthusiasts Wanted! HMANA's efforts to reestablish migration monitoring in the Keys
No expert raptor ID skills are required to volunteer. A training session will be provided prior to the hawkwatching season to go over raptor identification and proper count protocol techniques. The Curry Hammock State Park hawkwatch is an important site because the narrowing of the Florida Peninsula into the Keys concentrates large flights of migrating raptors en route to southern wintering grounds. If you would like to get involved, volunteer or have ideas for potential housing possibilities for Curry Hammock, please contact Julie Tilden . To learn more about HMANA's raptor monitoring efforts, please visit www.rpi-project.org. |
