Harold Williams & family with Richard MingoiaBoskey Volunteer of the Year Award  presented to YCS Trustee


YCS trustee Harold Williams was among six outstanding citizens recently honored by the Association for Children of New Jersey (ACNJ) annual meeting for the significant impact they have had on the lives of New Jersey's children. ACNJ executive director Cecilia Zalkind  presented the Boskey Volunteer of the Year Award to Mr. Williams for his continued dedication to tutoring and mentoring children at theYCS Sawtelle Learning Center and students at a local school in his home community of Montclair. "Mr. Williams embodies the spirit of volunteerism that touches children and forever changes the course of their lives," said Ms. Zalkind. "It is a privilege to honor him here today."

   With the renewal of a $10,000 grant from the  George A. Ohl Jr. Foundation and $1,200 additional funds generated by the annual Todd's birthday event sponsored by the Todd Ouida's Children's Foundation, Zippy's Friends will continue to nurture the emotional well-being of young children.

Capital One volunteers at TLC
Volunteers from Capital One Bank weeded, pruned and planted colorful annuals around the perimeter of YCS George Washington School with the help a some students.  Several days later a second group of volunteers visited the YCS Therapeutic Learning Center where they potted plants in the center's outdoor play area.

Keeping up wTodd's Garden Holley Centerith their annual tradition, family members and friends of the Todd Ouida's Children's Fdn. commemorated Todd's memory, on his birthday, by restoring Todd's Garden after a long, hard winter into a place where children can share a quiet meditative moment.
