HOST A COURSE

Hosting an MET course of your own can be a big advantage in several ways:

It is a cost effective way to satisfy CEU requirements for the company.

You save thousands of dollars on your CEU expeditures.

You make a nice profit for your clinic - usually $2000-$3000.

It's easier than you think.

MUSCLE ENERGY SCREENING EVALUATIONS FOR PELVIS, SACRUM & LUMBAR SPINE

As promised, you can now watch the actual M1 evaluation I do with each and every person who comes in with back, hip, pelvic pain. I also do this for neck, shoulder and upper back pain as well.

This eval is just the basic testing and screening and if I find something that I suspect needs further investigation, I will be more in depth. From the information that I get on this section, I will go on and begin my treatment using Muscle Energy Technique to correct the hypo-mobilities and asymmetries found. So much of what causes the pain is based on asymmetrical somatic adaptations that this is a great place to start using an all over body approach. Asymmetries of the pelvis, sacrum and lumbar spine may go on to cause adaptive asymmetries higher up in the thoracic spine, neck shoulders, etc.

It is divided into two parts so you can study and absorb each section at your convenience.

Questions from the Mail Room

Email Questions

Q:  Hi Tom! I am working with a pregnant gal right now who is having a lot of groin pain. She is 8 months pregnant and I have seen her 3 visits now. She is presenting more symmetrical now and I have taken care of an upslip and an outflare and I think what may have been a sacral torsion (hard to assess since she can't get on her stomach!)

Last visit she was complaining that her back felt better but her "groin" area was more sore. I attributed this to delayed onset muscle soreness and didn't think much about it.

Now she is saying THAT groin pain is gone, but she has more of an "internal" type of pain, equal bilaterally and over the iliopsoas region. She is not tender to touch any where. Any thoughts or suggestions? Sorry to be sort of vague, but that is the way it seems to me too! Could it be some delayed muscle soreness too? The only ex she is doing is hooklying gluteal squeezes and then hooklying hip abd/add isometrics (ball and band). Oh, and the quadraped "cat and camel" stretch. Appreciate any direction you could send me!

Karla B.

A:  The pelvic floor is getting ready to go because the hormones of delivery are working their magic, there will be some soreness. I recommend you check the pectineus muscle, usually very tender with late stage pregnancy and lateral pubic bone tenderness in the crease of the groin. Tx with counterstrain, but if not tender then she is getting ready to deliver.

Oh, by the way . . . You can assess the sacrum and ischial tubes in side lying very easily, just tilt your head.

"Just finished your 2 new videos on Muscle Energy Techniques and wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed them. Great information and the way you teach is fantastic! Very easy to understand and comprehend. Thank you for putting this info out there . . . I know I will use these techniques daily with my clients and will encourage my students to purchase your DVDs."

Our Seminars

Thomas K. Ockler, PT

For those of you who have taken Muscle Energy courses before and are still struggling...  Or if you have never taken a Muscle Energy course because you heard it was too hard... These are the courses for you.

Muscle Energy Technique is one of the most effective and valuable manual techniques for the identification and correction of somatic asymmetry and hypomobility. These techniques can be used immediately to find and correct the causes of all types of pain. These are not cover up procedures, but rather techniques that cure the problem with dramatic results.

Unlike manipulative therapies, which presume joints are stuck out of place by some physiologic glue, the beauty of Muscle Energy is that it works through an evidence-based neuro physiologic principle.  And that is the joints are held out of place by muscles that have too much tone.

In his 33 years of clinical practice, Tom Ockler P.T. has had extensive teaching experience throughout the United States, Canada, England and Australia.

As a teacher, Tom has earned the nickname "The Patch Adams of Physical Therapy" due to his unique style of injecting humor into complicated subjects. He has developed teaching methods that explain very complicated subjects in easily understandable formats. His five teaching manuals have been hailed by students as the "most user-friendly and useful Muscle Energy manuals ever."
