Greetings!
Dink has been helping out with the clean-up efforts.
Tracey and I along with our little pack of dogs  (six of them) would like to wish everyone a super-dooper happy Thanksgiving. If you are going to travel to be with family or visit with friends, please be safe.
I think we are finished with our traveling for a while and hope to be at home for a good spell now. We had two weddings, and several other family commitments we had to attend but we should be good until February. Dink Boy says that he is tired too and wants to stay home and help his daddy get some serious turning done. Just turn Dink loose in the shop and he makes for a really great dust mop.
If you call us and we do not answer the phone, please leave us a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. If you do not leave a message we will not know that you would like a call back.
Although we spend about 13 hours a day working, we are frequently out in the workshop preparing cartridges, blanks etc. and do not hear the phone but we do check in frequently.  If we are going to be away for longer than an hour, there will be a message letting you know when we'll be back.

ADDING TO YOUR ORDER WITH A COMMENT

We get lots of notes/comments on our Internet orders asking us to add items to the order.   We are happy to do this for you if we have the item, HOWEVER, we have opted for the highest security available on our site so your payment information does not pass along to us.  You will either have had to call us at least once so we can put your credit card information on file or we can send you a Paypal invoice.

Tech Talk
This is a pepper mill and the mechanism comes from PSI Woodworking Products (PKCRUSHS). The grinding mechanism is made from ceramic and will last for a very very long time. I have one in my kitchen which is used several times daily, is over seven years old and still works like brand new. The mechanism has an internal spring which is adjusted from the bottom of the mill so there is no need for the nut on top of the assembly. I have made several of these as gifts for family members.
I make mine a little different from the turning and assembly instructions provided by PSI. Instead of leaving the bottom of my cap knob flat and relying on the knob keeper mechanism to keep it centered, I cut a tenon on mine which sets inside the base and will spin freely inside. I drill a 15/16" hole into the bottom of the knob to press the upper mechanism into. I do not cut off the ribs on the mechanism. Just grind off the two wings on the top. This will eliminate the need for glue or screws. It is a nice tight fit.
The purchase of just three Forstner bits is required to make this kit. a 15/16", a 1-1/2 and a 1-3/4 are all you need. The base mechanism presses into the 1-1/2 hole and the 1-3/4 is for the bottom of the opening to allow you to press in the mechanism. The 15/16 is to drill the hole for the top mechanism. If you intend to make a very tall mill, you will need to purchase an extension for your 1-1/2" forstner bit. They come in various lengths up to ten inches. You will need to use the shortest one needed to accomplish your task. Using a longer extension than needed will cause your hole to be off center. I got mine at WoodCraft several years ago and it is still going strong. Do not drill all the way through from one end. Drill just over halfway through and then flip the piece around and finish drilling from the other end. This will at least keep your ends centered which is essential.
You can use your imagination for the style  and shape you want to turn your wood. As you can see from this one. The traditional pepper mill shape does not apply for me. I want something a little different. It makes folks ask "What is that". It catches their eye and opens up the "How neat is that, can you make one for me" conversation.
The wood that this one is made from is some  hard rock maple and a piece of red flame box elder which I found at the brush dump site here in Monett. AKA FOG, found on ground, wood. It was free, the best kind of wood. The red flame box elder was used to make a cabachon for the top of the mill. Check out the neighbors firewood pile, there are some premium peppermill blanks in there. With less than twenty dollars invested including the kit and the reusable bits, this mill would easily sell for over $100.00 at even a low end craft show. At a high dollar show I would expect around twice that. Not bad for a couple hours of fun in the shop. You don't have to spend a fortune to make a nice gift.

What's New
We have another new inlay blank. This one is a cross with some fancy turquoise inlays within the cross. The barrel is turned from Red Alder. The inlay is Bubinga (aka Rosewood). The inlays within the rosewood cross are cut from turquoise acrylic. All together the blank is very stunning. They will fit any Monet, Sierra, Elegant Sierra, Wall Street II or whatever you want to call the same design kit.

A couple of Tracey's inlay blanks have had to go back to the drawing board for some more tweaking. The fairy blank looked like a winged naked lady on the mud flap of a chromed out semi tractor. It looked goooood, but we could not put it on our site for sale. She is still working on it and also has some really cool flower ideas in the works. Keep checking back for the next blank.
Coming Soon
We are currently in the initial purchasing phase of acquiring the ever so popular Electronic Circuit Board Pen Blank. We will be carrying them for the Monet/Gatsby Pen and also for the Cigar Pen Kit. We hope to have them in stock around the first of the new year. They take time to make and ship so please be patient. We want to make sure that you are getting a  good quality product at a reasonable price.

We have had an overwhelming number of requests for our Paw Inlay Blank be made in a number of  different colors. We are in the process of having some maple blanks dyed and stabilized for this purpose. Lots of schools have the same design for their team but in different colors.

Pink Cammo acrylic blanks will be here soon. For the ladies who are the outdoorsy types you will love these. There are some other new colors on the way too. We expect the shipment on or about 17 December.

We are upgrading our Sandpaper roll set to the five roll pack. It will be the same high quality as the four pack and will have the 600 grit roll included in it. Our price should be around $12.00 for the five roll set once the import duty and shipping cost dust settles. Also coming are the individual 150 grit rolls. It seems that the 150 roll goes much faster than the other rolls. You will no longer have to buy a whole new set to get the 150 refilled.
We thank our customers dearly for shopping with us. Have a great Thanksgiving with your family and friends.

Have A Great Day,
