DeLauder Insurance Agency is going GREEN! We want to do our part, and now we would like to ask for your help. Our office has been paperless for a few years, but we still seem to have an overload of paper that we shred and recycle. We are making a great effort not to hit the "print document" page so often. Our next step is where we need your help; we would like to use the Internet and/or email for most of our communications. We will be sending most of our correspondence and all future newsletters electronically. Every little bit helps, let's do our part and go GREEN! Send us your up-dated email address, and let us know you are "on-line" with helping us in this effort. We appreciate your feedback. | FLYING SOUTH FOR THE WINTER? |
Whether you are flying south for the winter, or just taking a much needed vacation, here are some tips to help you prepare your home while you are away:

Make sure you have shut off outdoor water faucets, drain and detach hoses. It is really important in the winter months to take extra precautions so the water pipes don't freeze.

It is recommended that the heat should be at least 55 degrees to avoid freezing of water pipes...never below that!
-
Advise a close neighbor or family member that you will be out of town and ask them to "house sit" or walk through your home daily, inspecting it for any kind of trouble such as running-water, signs of smoke, windows or doors that are ajar, etc. Make sure you give them a key and a check list before you leave.

Put inside lights on a timer to give the appearance of someone being home. Put outside lights on a motion sensor to deter burglars.

Check all doors and windows before you leave.
- Unplug small appliances (including TVs).
Taking the time to do these things before you leave, and having the right insurance coverage means you will be able to relax and enjoy your time away. |

A British paramedic in the mid 2000's started the program I.C.E. (In Case of Emergency) to help emergency personnel contact family members in an emergency situation. He advises people to enter a contact in their cell phones as I.C.E. and add the phone number(s) of a close relative or person that should be contacted in the event of an emergency.This is extremely helpful to emergency responders in situations where a person may be unconscious and have their cell phone nearby. | |

THANKS TO OUR SECRET SANTAS
We would like to thank all of our "Secret Santas" for their generous donations to our adopted family. Your gifts helped spread some holiday cheer for the family on Christmas Morning! We were able to donate over $500 of new clothing and toys for the children, and a gift card to a local grocery store for their holiday feast!.
