Your Stimulus Package: Ways to Save

Raise Your Deductibles
We are looking for ways to help you save money on your insurance, increasing your comprehensive and/or collision deductibles is a great place to start.  Also, if you have an older vehicle that is worth $2000 or less, it is probably time to remove the collision coverage from that vehicle.  It is also recommended to take a look at your homeowners deductible....most insurance companies are happy to give you lower rates for higher deductibles so they do not have to process the smaller claims.
Change your Payment Plan
Changing your payment plan could save you as much as 7% a year on your bill!  We also offer EFT which automatically deducts your payment from your account which can also save you money.
Consolidate
Another way to possibly save money is to have all your insurance with one company.  Many of the insurance carriers we represent offer a multi-policy discount for clients who have their home and auto with that company.
Stick Around a While
Changing companies can be tempting, especially with the catchy ads on TV and in your mailbox.  Changing companies could actually lead to higher premiums in the long run; the longer you are with a company, the more you may save in renewal and/or longevity discounts.  A rule of thumb is that unless you are saving 15% or more, it is a not a good idea to change carriers!
Annual Reviews
Policyholders are recommended to review your insurance yearly.  Life changes such as retirement, marital status, job or career changes, car pooling or commuting all can have an impact on your insurance rates.  (Not always do your rates go up if you make changes, sometimes the rates are reduced!)  The easiest way to review your policy is to call our office and we will be happy to walk through the review process with you.  Many times we find ways to save you money without giving up important coverage.
Check Before Buying
Consider insurance costs BEFORE making a commitment to buy a new car.  If you provide us with the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number or Serial Number) we can quote the cost of the insurance for you within minutes.
Also, before buying that home or business property, let us go over the insurance costs and make sure there are no hidden insurance issues that could create an unexpected burden; flood insurance requirements, occupancy concerns, prior water damage claims can have an affect on the insurance on a property.  Let us help you.

Youthful Driver College Students and Your Youthful Driver

Do you have a  son or daughter away at college?  "Will my child be covered under my home and auto policy while they are away at school?"  The answer to that question is not as simple as a yes or no!  We need to know if your student is living in an apartment instead of a dorm, and if so, who's name is the lease in and how many are sharing the space?  Will your student take a vehicle with them to school or will they only come home on college breaks?  (And, how is your vehicle titled?)

~ Call our office to find out more and how it could affect your policy.

Do you have a youthful driver that is licensed or about to be licensed?   If you have someone in your household that is soon to be licensed, it is important that you call our office as soon as possible to avoid having something called "insurance premium shock".  We can review procedures and "brace you" for the cost of a new inexperienced driver.  We strongly encourage ALL youthful drivers to watch the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Video, Young Drivers: The High Risk Years. (Click here or refer to our website for the link) Once your youthful has watched the video, call our office and we can check if you will be eligible for any discount.

Halloween Street Safety

Tips for Drivers

Keep a lookout for Stray Spirits - Be aware of your surroundings, excited children could run into the street without looking.
Look before backing out of driveways - Be extra mindful of what or who is behind your car.
Avoid talking on the phone and Avoid texting- Having little to distract you during heavy foot traffic can benefit ALL.

Tips for Walkers

Glow in the dark -  Make sure you are visible in the dark.  Glow sticks are a fun way to make kids more visible as they trek down sidewalks and yards.  Another option is reflective tape on shoes and clothes.
Talk to strangers only with parental permission - Make sure kids know when it is OK to talk to a stranger.
Know your safety plan - Make sure your kids know the "plan" if they are separated from you in the excitement of the night.  Practice the plan before you leave for Trick or Treating.  Also make sure they know important phone numbers to call if they find themselves on their own.  It might be a good idea to give them a spare phone if you have one.
