Annual Florida Blood Drive Kickoff
Brevard police officers, sheriff's deputies and firefighters attended the 2011 Guns 'N Hoses kickoff at the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce.
During the month of December, Big RED Buses will be conducting blood drives at sheriff's offices, police and fire departments and other venues throughout Brevard. Every donor will have an opportunity to donate blood and cast a vote for either the "Guns" (sheriff deputies, police officers and other law enforcement), or the "Hoses" (firefighters). Votes will be tallied throughout the month, and the agencies will be awarded a trophy and recognized after December 31st on the blood center's web site (www.floridasbloodcenters.org) and on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
The real winners of Guns ' N Hoses are the patients who need blood transfusions in Brevard. Florida's Blood Centers, home of the Big RED Bus, is the sole provider of blood products to all Brevard County hospitals.
All agencies are encouraged to recruit family members, co-workers and friends to join them this month in helping to save lives in our local hospitals. CLICK HERE to see the list of the Guns 'N Hoses blood drives taking place. |

We had MORE Bars this year, a New Location,
and Loads of FUN!
Martinis & Mistletoe, sponsored by PNC Bank, was held on Friday, December 2, and proved to be THE Holiday Event of the Season again this year!
Once guests had sampled each of the martini recipes offered by contestants, the ballots were cast and FLORIDA TODAY revealed that The Melting Pot's "Love Martini" was the hands-down favorite. Over 250 attendees were also treated to a holiday buffet, a Fox Janitorial dessert bar, coffees by Sunshine Coffee Service, and presented with their own Twin Rivers Insurance souvenir specialty martini glass, etched with the Martinis and Mistletoe logo.
Set against a backdrop of hot pink, the Hilton Melbourne Oceanfront's Atlantic Blue Beach Bar's iridescent white tree and sparkling décor created a holiday winter wonderland that took the prize.
