As a salute to the supportive residents of Brevard County, Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts at Kennedy Space Center is hosting the 12th Annual Salute to Brevard Residents, a free weekend and food drive, Oct. 21 through Oct. 23, 2011.

 

Residents need to show proof of residency, in the form of a driver's license or utility bill, to gain complimentary admission to the Visitor Complex. 

 

Complimentary admission includes the Shuttle Launch Experience, the Kennedy Space Center Tour, Hubble 3D inIMAX®,  the  STAR TREKTLIVE show, and the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame®, featuring historic spacecraft, simulator rides and the world's largest collection of personal astronaut mementos.

If you have set up a Facebook page for your business be sure that it is a 'Like' page and not a 'friends' page. A Facebook 'Like' page is the only feature on Facebook that is indexed by Google which means you can put keyword rich content in the information section to be read by the search engines. You also can have unlimited 'Likes' or 'Fans' whereas on a 'friends' page you are limited to only 5000, that is a combination of friends and the pages you like. There are also a number of applications and custom features you can take advantage of to build out your Facebook presence and attract potential clients.

 

One thing to keep in mind is to avoid obvious selling on Facebook, most Facebook users do not enjoy being heavily marketed to. Facebook is a social network so it is important to focus on building relationships. The best way to market your business on Facebook is to use the 80/20 rule. Focus 80% of your posts on adding value and building loyalty with your fans and only promote your business, products or services 20% of the time. If you build relationships with your fans first, you'll see a much greater response to any promotional offer you make in future.

IRS Announcements

IRS Announcement 2011-64 provides notice and details regarding a new Internal Revenue Service Voluntary Classification Settlement program that provides partial relief from federal employment taxes for eligible taxpayers that agree to prospectively treat workers as employees. 

 

Announcement 2011-64 will be published in Internal Revenue Bulletin 2011-41, dated Oct. 11, 2011. 

 

Also IR-2011-95 is a New Voluntary Worker Classification Settlement Program; Past Payroll Tax Relief Provided to Employers Who Reclassify Their Workers as Employees.
