Hopefuls Get a Shot at Fame

Runaway Country Music Festival

With opening curtain quickly approaching, festival organizers, Space Coast hotels, restaurants and businesses are in countdown mode, preparing to welcome country music fans from around the world.

With all those fans come the dreams and aspirations of rising and hope-to-be-rising performers looking for their big break.

For 8 straight weeks, beginning February18^th then all the way through to the festival, aspiring artists can apply to perform a 30 minute set at the County Line Saloon in Melbourne. Called "Audition to Runaway" judges will select one performer each week to come back and perform a second time. At the end of 8 weeks, the list will be pared down to two performers who will kick off Runaway Country at 2:30PM Friday April 15^th on the main stage in front of thousands.

Rob Varley, executive director of Space Coast Office of Tourism and a country music fan explains, "The audience will select the winner, or should I say, the newest rising star. Who knows where it could lead? How cool is that? We could launch a new star from the Space Coast."
