Ben Foskett at Royal Albert Hall
It was a special night
on Sunday August 2nd as Thresh composer Ben Foskett received a
standing ovation at London's Royal Albert Hall.
One of the UK's up-and-coming
composers, Ben had been commissioned by the BBC Proms to write a major
orchestral work. It was a phenomenal experience for all who know him, and a
great tribute to his exciting talent.
The Guardian called it 'a piece of
virtuosity and great charm'. Truly amazing! You can listen to the piece (from
the BBC website) at the link below.

Dear Friends, After taking a small break in July to be with family and friends, we re-emerge invigorated to offer you exciting performances and workshops in August.
Thresh's Educational mission (as many of you know) is to generate a new dance-theatre language by having an ongoing dialogue with traditional dances and music, in particular Indian dances.
To bring you closer to understanding our language, we conduct classes, workshops and residencies to stimulate, challenge and change the mind and body for newer creative avenues.
We also offer interactive educational opportunities through new partnerships, where we work with some of the most dynamic and creative minds to introduce newer approaches from traditional sources.
Do get involved with us. Come as a creative dancer, a curious observer, an eager volunteer, an engaged researcher or even a fiery debater!
We look forward to seeing you in August for our various events and help lay the foundations for a vibrant Fall!

Scholars and Practioners: dance in classrooms
Thresh presented Dancing for the Gods, our ground-breaking educational initiative bringing technology and arts together in an exciting interactive forum, at two major dance conferences in June in the US.
A more academic setting, our first presentation at Stanford University, California, for The Society for Dance History Scholars (SDHS) and Dance Critics Association (DCA), focussed on technological ease and research access opportunities for senior practitioners, critics and researchers to Indian dance. Our second presentation, for the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) in NYC was a physical workshop session for teachers of dance on how to use Dancing for the Gods in the classroom. Dance teachers looking for new ways to implent dance in the classroom joined in, stamping their feet, learning new gestures and creating their own dances in an hour long movement workshop.
For those of you new to our exciting initiative, please go to www.dancingforthegods.org. As always, we welcome your suggestions - so don't forget to let us know what you think.
And remember: Its free to register!
We appreciate all the support you can give us by helping us spread the message about our initiative. Help us tell your friends (educators or teachers in particular!), and try your own hand at dancing - Indian!
