Welcome back to the Asch family!
We are delighted to welcome back Mr Asch, together with his his wife Ruth, and their children David and Miriam.
Mr Asch has been on leave of absence since last summer, having taken up Wilbur Research Fellowship at the Russell Kirk Center, USA.
Mr Asch and his wife met at Chavagnes in 2002, as founder members of the College. Mr and Mrs Asch agree: "It's great to be back!"
Robert Asch is co-editor of the international Catholic review of culture, St Austin Review.
Although back in residence from April, Mr Asch will only be taking up his duties again as teacher of English and History, from September. He has also accepted the post of Dean, with responsibility for the welfare and pastoral care of all students at the College. |
A literary holiday to remember: Professor Anthony O'Hear welcomes you to a summer course on THE GREAT BOOKS from Homer to Dickens, this summer. Read more ... |

Dear friends,
Welcome to the first issue of our email newsletter. We are sending this email to you either because you have requested information from us in the past, or because a friend has suggested you would like to know more about our Catholic boarding school for boys. (If you wish to unsubscribe, just click on the link provided at the end of this email.)
At Chavagnes our main goal is to prepare our students for the next life, but we believe that God intends to have great fun in this life too, and that in doing so we glorify him. So you'll find that alongside daily Mass, Christian formation and a programme of serious academic study, our boys also know how to perfect their musical, sporting and creative talents too. |

Future international lawyer says "thank-you, Chavagnes!"
Jose Senosiain joined us at Chavagnes in 2004 and was with us for four years. He is now studying International Law at the University of Navarre. When asked recently about his time at Chavagnes he told Vatican Radio "the school has definitely helped a lot to deepen my faith".

Three Chavagnes brothers ...
Alex and Greg Morrison (pictured), both studied for their A-levels at Chavagnes and moved on to university in 2005. Alex Morrison is now preparing for his finals in French at Oriel College, Oxford where he is an Academic and Organ Scholar. Greg, meanwhile, graduated with a first class degree in Theology from Lampeter, University of Wales in 2008 and is currently back teaching at Chavagnes until the end of this academic year. Alex is planning to enter the Norbertines later this year.
Meanwhile, younger brother Peter is sitting A-levels at Chavagnes this June. We call them the 'three wise men' ...

Father Talbot's expecting visitors...
Our new chaplain, Father Anthony Talbot is feeling right at home. His Talbot ancestors left France with William the Conqueror, so being back this side of the channel is 'tres agreable' for Father. He's a real European too: another ancestor was made a Count of the Holy Roman Empire after capturing the Turkish standard in a important battle.
But Father Talbot is a man of peace ... he enjoys woodwork and has kitted out one of the outhouses as a cabinetry workshop. He has also been running a successful photography club at the College.
Father also had the bright idea of inviting boys for a Taster week at Chavagnes, to give potential students a chance to 'try before you buy'. We've had two successful weeks already and the next is scheduled for 4th to 9th June 2009. For more details, click here. All boys from 9 upwards are welcome!
Father comments: "Living in France adds an extra dimension to Chavagnes. We are situated in the Vende, a traditional Catholic (and royalist) stronghold. Being very much an English school but situated in France gives the added bonus of teaching boys French in situ, a benefit most parents would welcome." |

Thank-you for your interest in our apostolate. We are happy to share our news with you, and hope that we can count on your support and prayers. We also need your alms, so think about making a one-off donation to our apostolate for Catholic youth, or perhaps making a regular donation. Our benefactors are very much part of our community: we love to welcome them for visits and they are remembered in a monthly Mass and in the daily prayers of the College.
One or two timely pieces of news for parents especially: up to date TERM DATES are on the website. Please check them. Also, our end of term play and SUMMER BALL are timetabled for 3rd July. Please tell your friends and invite them too. We will be making special arrangments for extra over-night accommodation.
I encourage you to let others knows about us and our educational work. You can do this by forwarding our newsletter to your friends. |
Yours sincerely in Domino,

Help
us to help the Catholic leaders of tomorrow! |
In the current financial crisis, with families finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet, we need the help of benefactors more than ever. With the devaluation of the pound against the Euro, our fees (which are set at about half of our UK competitors) have become more expensive for UK families.
Chavagnes is more than just a school. It is a school of faith, preparing the next generation of Catholic leaders for our Catholic communities in Europe. We specifically encourage our pupils to see their future vocations in these terms, and do our best to prepare them for a life of Christan discipleship and service, as Catholic gentlemen. But in order to be sure of our future, we need your help. Please consider sending us a donation, making a fixed-term interest-free loan or remembering us in your will. |
To pledge your help EMAIL US at help@chavagnes.org.
We can send you a secure link which will enable you to make a little gift to us by credit card. God bless you! |
