CORNERSTONE/CROSSROADS

from Vestry Member Dr. Annalisa Parks

Cornerstone/ Crossroads has met at Cherrydale Baptist Church two Sunday nights now. At the first Cherrydale meeting, it was the largest CR/CS ever, and there is room to grow! I stopped by to see how things were going and the excitement was tremendous. It was encouraging to have Cherrydale's youth pastor's support and presence there as well.

Pray for the staff, the move means many additional hours of monitoring set up and break down. More parent volunteers will be necessary.

This weekend just past was the middle school Breakaway. Between the two Breakaways there are 1,010 people attending (kids, youth family, work crew, staff, parents volunteers). The Lord is pouring out His Spirit on the youth of this church!

Pray for Marti Alderfer. With this explosive growth there is much more administrative work. She spent many extra hours last week completing registration, checking medical forms and releases. Pray also for Jim Byrne and the rest of the staff to be able to follow up with all the new students, help get new small group leaders and continue mentoring the regular attending students, as well as plan all the regular events for the students. Their work load has increased tremendously.

In this 6th Edition of our eNewsletter, we are providing a quick update on plans for our Easter Worship Services, as well as a report on our Youth Ministry programs.

At the suggestion of one of our communications committee experts, we are sending this edition on a Monday instead of a Friday. Please "reply" and let us know if you prefer this beginning of the week message or an end of the week message.

Easter Worship Schedule

In consulting the Vestry and the Worship and Music team leaders, our Rector, John Yates, has established the following Easter Worship Schedule to accommodate the growing attendance we have experienced each year by God's grace. We'll also have another chance to "practice" worshipping in places away from our current campus.

With the Main Services at Bishop O'Connell High School, our many worship teams: Music, Sound, Altar Guild, Flower Ministry, Ushers and Greeters, will have this early advance start up time to get in the groove for worshipping together in new places beginning in May--still to be finalized. Please keep praying for where the Lord will be guiding us temporarily and then permanently.

We will be relying more and more on good communications to keep all of us informed about worship and ministry meeting locations.

PLEASE NOTE: as always, we will have Nursery, but not Children's Ministry available on Easter.

IN THE FUTURE, Children's Ministry will go with us wherever we set up our worship services. When we say WORSHIP PLANS, we mean Children's Ministry is to be provided for as always.

Palm Sunday and Holy Week Schedule at The Falls Church (see TFC Anglican website or Sunday leaflet)

April 8, Easter Sunday Schedule:

7 a.m. Easter Sunrise Celebration, Main Sanctuary

8 a.m. Easter Holy Eucharist, Historic Church

9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Festival Easter Celebration at Bishop O'Connell High School

Praise and Prayers

Pray for TFC Anglican Administrative and Accounting staff who have been willingly working many many overtime hours to satisfy the financial reporting demands of the Final Order from Judge Bellows requiring all information be sent by March 15 to the Episcopal Diocese for their thorough review.

Pray for the final negotiations our Relocation Team are working for our staff and ministry offices and meeting spaces. The list is long and the Lord is able.

Pray for continued gracious conversations and accommodating plans our ministry leaders are making with The Falls Church (Episcopal) ministry leaders to transition smoothly. The Rev. Cathy Tibbets, Interim-Priest-Charge at The Falls Church (Episcopal) expresses the desire to be supportive of our weddings and funerals and Memorial Garden burials.

In the family,

Your Rector and Vestry
