Can Two Walk Together

Greetings!

We are pleased to sharewith you  this second issue of TFC Community News during this important season in the life of our church.

Decisions and plans are coming together slowly with steady progress since we received Judge Bellows ruling regarding our real estate and personal property. We don't know a great deal yet, but we want to share all we can with you.

What we know today:

Praise God! Good places have been identified and orally agreed upon for relocating the:

  • 8 am Sunday service;
  • Student Ministry Crossroads and Cornerstone Sunday nights;
  • Fellows Program weekly meeting space;
  • Women's Ministry; and,
  • Hungry for God sessions.

We can't yet say where until formal agreements have been reached, but we are grateful for God's confirmation that He cares for us and demonstrates His love in the details.

Our seven-church legal defense team has received from the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia's legal counsel the draft Final Order (the implementation plan to carry out the Judge's ruling). Our legal team has been carefully reviewing the draft and gathering input and information to provide a coordinated response to the proposed Order.

Meetings are being scheduled between representatives of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia (DoV) and representatives from the four churches with day schools. This will be an opportunity to try to reach agreement allowing the schools to continue status quo operations through the end of this school year, at minimum, and hopefully through 2013.

What we ask of you:

Please pray for our seven churches to abide in God's Peace and be at rest with the events over the last five years.

Pray for wisdom for our vestry, clergy, and legal team and for favor with the legal authorities as we consider how to respond to various aspects of the Court's recent ruling.

Pray for God to give you ways to be more intentional to connect with others in fellowship during this time of transition. Encourage others to be active in a ministry or small group where they are known and prayed for.

As we move forward, we don't want to lose or miss anyone. The Vestry is charged with nuts and bolts stewardship, but we are all the bricks and mortar--and Jesus is the Master Mason we trust will build us together in the weeks ahead.

In Christ,
Your Vestry
