A Letter From Santa
Hello Friends!
Jingle and Jangle in Halloween costumes
Jingle and Jangle are so excited about their new
Halloween costumes!
The beginning of October is such an exciting time here at the North Pole. The Elves know that in less than two months they will be in your homes sharing the Christmas season with you! The Elves also know that Halloween is just around the corner! The beginning of October is also a very busy time here at the North Pole. The Elves are putting the finishing touches on the toys they are making while they are attending school and still responsible for chores. Everyone lends a helping hand at the North Pole. Knowing that they will be with you soon makes it all worthwhile!
Speaking of the Elves' yearly journey, I've decide to declare a holiday on Dec. 1st called Elf Magic, Day of the Elf; an Elf-tastic celebration of my little friends arriving in your homes! Beginning this year, Elf Magic parties will be held in homes, schools and hospitals around the country on this special day. Watch for exciting celebration ideas to come, including recipes from Mrs. Claus, craft ideas from Elf Sara and game ideas from Elf Ryan.
Of course, one of the greatest thrills this year has been your friendships with Jingle Claus, Jangle Claus and my other social media Elves on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Our ability to stay in touch with you year-round has brought such joy to me and my Elves, who in years past would not have been able to keep up with their best child friends so easily! It also brings great joy to me knowing that my Elves can be available more readily to you when you need them most. Please keep it up and tell your friends to do the same. I love it when the Elves give me all of your messages! Let's see how many new friends we can get to join our Facebook accounts!
OK, on to the news. Life at the North Pole isn't all about parties and Facebook. Just like you, the Elves attend school to learn important skills and knowledge that they'll use for the rest of their lives!
Senior SNN Editor Elf Zach spent some time with a few students to get the real story behind this school year. Perhaps, for the first time ever, you'll learn why the Elves take certain classes and how they dream of using their new knowledge. SNN Editor Elf Justin writes about some of the new "Fun & Games" along with a few of the old favorites at the North Pole.
We also have one of my favorite features yet to be published in St. Nick's News: A detailed, up-close-and-personal photo essay of life at the North Pole! Over Facebook, you have often asked to see photos of our little Arctic home. Now the wait is over! Elf Jeremy, our Photo Editor, has done a fantastic job laying out the great snapshots below.
The Elves at St. Nick's News work hard to deliver the latest-and-greatest reports from the North Pole, so we hope you'll read the whole edition. There's no better way to stay up-to-date on all the magical happenings!
As always, we are thankful for your time and for sharing your magical stories and photos with us each year. It is such a blessing to us. Until next time, please remember to continue sharing your Elves' adventures on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, and if you know a friend or family member who would love Elf Magic, please forward this SNN!
I hope you find the magic of Christmas in your everyday!

Students Shed Light on the Importance of a Good North Pole Education
By Elf Zach
Senior Editor
Learning is fun!
Yes, the Elves think much like you do.  On any given day, they'd rather be playing outside with their friends, chatting online, or going on an adventure, known at the North Pole as an Elfcapade. But they also know that you can only live life to the fullest if you work hard to gain important skills and knowledge in school! That's why Santa makes sure that all Elves attend school at the North Pole.
And learning is fun, right? "I look at my studies in science and math as a way to  make me a better toy designer," says Elf Gordon, who also volunteers as a math tutor in his free time. "Enjoying the finished product is only part of the process. It can be just as enjoyable to learn how a toy is made!"Geography class is a favorite of many Elves, as they learn how to read maps and interesting facts about all of the fun places the toys are delivered.
The School of Fashion and Design is very popular.  "Elf Charlotte has changed my life by teaching me about fashion design," says Elf Cindy, whose Funky Chic Elfit is sure to turn heads at Forever Elf Fashions when it becomes available. "I had no idea how much planning and preparation goes into the details of a dress. Education is just as important as inspiration when making great clothes!"
Last year's award winning SnowCase, designed for the Elves to have a home away from home, was a hit for The School of Architecture.  The students used their math skills to figure out the exact measurements needed of the different materials used to build the SnowCase. They even decorated one for boys and one for girls!
Elf Troy says he wouldn't have been able to help Jingle and Jangle with Elf Magic's online outreach if he didn't learn to read and write well in language classes. "Before I went to school," said Troy, "I had so many ideas about how to use Facebook and Twitter, but wasn't very good at putting those ideas into action. I didn't understand grammar or punctuation, so my ideas came across jumbled. Now I'm one of the lead writers on the Elf Magic Facebook Page, which has only been possible because I learned from the best "spokes-Elf" of them all - Professor Jangle!"
We hope that you'll take these stories to heart now that you're back in school, just like the Elves. Make sure to listen to your parents and teachers - we promise they know what's best for you!
