Elf PartyWe are so excited! An "elf party" was recently featured in the 2009 Christmas With Southern Living Cookbook and the Elf Magic Elves were invited to attend. When your elves come to visit this winter, you can re-create your own Christmas with Southern Living "Elf Party".

For the photo shoot, the elves enjoyed a favorite pastime of baking with their host families. You can create your own elf party complete with a recipe for Elf Cookies featured from the book. But be warned - it is a favorite among the Elf Magic Elves, so don't be surprised if you wake up in the morning to find only morsels of the tasty treat left!

Prep: 18 minutes
Cook: 12 minutes per batch
Other: 15 minutes

You and your elf will need:
  • Store-bought cookie dough and an elf-themed cookie cutter
  • 2 (19 0z.) packages sugar cookie dough sheets
  • Parchment paper
  • 1 egg white, lightly beater
  • Red and green coarse decorator sugars
  • 1 (6.4 oz.) can white decorating icing
  • 48 milk chocolate or semisweet chocolate morsels
Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using an elf face-shaped cookie cutter, cut out dough. Reroll trimmings to make additional cookies.

Place cutouts 1" apart on parchment paper-lined large baking sheets. Brush hats and bowties of elves with egg white; sprinkle with decorator sugars.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 - 12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool 5 minutes on baking sheets; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Squirt 2 drops of icing onto each cookie face for eyes. Top each drop of icing with a chocolate morsel. Yield: 2 dozen.

Note: Find sugar cookie dough sheets in the dairy case of your grocery store during the holiday season.
Families from around the world share their Elfcapade stories

CookingWe have received a lot of letters telling us how much you love your elves and all about their wonderful nighttime Elfcapades.

Remember, if you have a story you would like to share, be sure to fill out the form on Santa's favorite Web Site.

Angela, a mom with two boys from Pennsylvania, told us about her oldest son's special experience with his elf.

"The excitement is still there every Christmas," she says of her son and his elf, Warren, who arrived five years ago, when he was almost 4 years old.

Her youngest son got his elf when he was 3 and is spending his third year with him this Christmas! "It has truly been a blessing to share with my precious boys!"

A girl from Alabama told us about her Elf Lucy's Elfcapade. She awoke one morning to find Lucy and her friend's elf, Sully, sleeping outside in sleeping bags. "They wanted to be in the cold," she says. "So, they spent the night outside to remind them of the North Pole!"

A little boy from New York wrote to tell us how much he loves his elf! This summer he asked Santa if Elf Harper could come visit to watch his soccer game at summer camp. A few days later, Harper showed up at his front door with his own soccer ball. Harper helped cheer his host's team to victory later that day before returning to the North Pole to help Santa prepare for Christmas.

It's never too late to submit your Elfcapade stories! We love to share them with everyone in the North Pole! There are many ways you can share stories with us - you can Friend us on Facebook; follow our Tweets on Twitter; upload photos of your elves on Flickr; or e-mail the North Pole at ElfMail@Elf-Magic.com. We are always looking for families to share their Elf Magic stories with the local news, too, so if you have a story about your elf you want to share, visit Elf Magic and tell us about it! You never know ... you and your elf could end up on the 5 o'clock news!
Annual Reindeer Games Planning Underway

Reindeer Games After delivering toys to good boys and girls around the world on Christmas Eve, the elves settle back into the North Pole. So they don't miss their host families too much, Santa holds the Annual Reindeer Games on New Year's Day. The games include sleigh pulling, relay races and the elf favorite - hurdles - eventually crowning one lucky reindeer the winner.

In fact, they've already started preparing! The Magic Reindeers days are now filled with a lot of food - they need to make sure they eat healthy and are energized not only for the games, but also for their upcoming toy delivery with Santa! They are also regularly sprinting back and forth from the stables to the North Pole Village.

They have started to load sleighs with toys that have been finished and practice by pulling the sleighs uphill toward the North Star! Reindeer who really want to prepare for the games have taken to putting some elves in the sleigh as well - the more they can haul, the better!

Last year, Rudolph took home the title. This year, according to the elves, it is any reindeer's game!

mischief We hear...

... The Halloween spirit is very much alive at the North Pole! Elf Perry has been stocking up on supplies to create his own spooky haunted house. So far, he's gotten some plastic bugs and a scarecrow. Every year, Perry's haunted house brings in elves from all over the area. They just love a little scare before Christmas!

... Elf Magnolia was spotted trying on her new outfit for Halloween! What is she going to be? Well, according to my source, Elf Magnolia plans on Trick-or-Treating as a Snowflake Princess and will be donning the new Snowflake Princess Dress. She'll add her own Halloween flair by accenting the dress with a black sash and pumpkin bowl to collect her candy from her North Pole neighbors.

... Elf Abbott was overheard telling Elf Tex about his plans when he visits his host family this winter. Apparently, his host family has two dogs. He loves going to visit his host family, but every time he goes, the dogs remind him how much he misses his Magic Reindeers. Well, this year I've been told that Abbott plans to bring a Magic Reindeer with him to his host family's house! I wonder how the dogs will like a pet reindeer for the Christmas season!

... The new light skinned, dark-haired girls and boys from the southern village are learning some new cooking skills! They have never been to a host family's home for Thanksgiving, so they are learning how to make stuffing and mashed potatoes in order to help with the cooking activities when they arrive!

... Elf Vanessa, SNN Arts Critic, was seen getting creative with some snapshots of her and her elf friends recently. Apparently, she is putting together a special "Elf Magic Memories" book to bring to her host family this year.
