More Trees = Less Crime
UVM Researcher Leads Study

The results of a new study led by Austin Troy, associate professor at UVM's Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, showed that a 10 percent increase in tree canopy was associated with a roughly 12 percent decrease in crime. The research published in the journal of Landscape and Urban Planning analyzed the relationship between tree canopy and crime in Baltimore. Learn more

    i-Tree Design (beta) allows anyone to make a simple estimation of the benefits individual trees provide. With inputs of location, species, tree size and condition, users will get an understanding of the benefits that trees provide related to greenhouse gas mitigation, air quality improvements and storm water interception.
