Vermont needs your help! Become a Forest Pest First Detector
The emerald ash borer and Asian longhorned beetle are less than 50 miles from Vermont's borders and we need your help with education and outreach, volunteer recruitment, pest screening and preparing your community for a pest infestation. Join a crew of committed volunteers with the Forest Pest First Detector Program.
The next in-person training will be held on the following dates:
- Saturday, September 15th, 9:45am-4pm, Castleton Community Center, Castleton, VT
- Saturday, September 22nd, 9:45am-4pm, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Forest Center, Woodstock, VT

Local Forester to Cycle for Tree Research
West Rutland's own Duane Dickinson, a Utility Forester at Green Mountain Power, will fundraise more than $3,500 to spend a week cycling 585 miles through Oregon - all in support of tree research.
