Scare up some fun at our Halloween Party!
The Depot Inn & Suites will be throwing a Halloween Party on Friday, October 30. The fun starts at 8 PM, and will go all the way to the witching hour, at the Silver Rails Event Center in La Plata! Admission is just $5 per person or $7.50 per couple. Be sure not to miss our hourly door prizes and costume contest! We'll also have a cash bar, featuring special Halloween concoctions. Join us to ring in 2010!
There will be a 2010 New Year Celebration at the Depot Inn & Suites,
with events scheduled from New Year's Eve on Thursday, December 31, 2009
through Sunday, January 3, 2010.
On New Year's Eve, we will throw a grand New Year's party at the Silver Rails Event Center. Doors will open at 6:30 PM and the party
will go on until 1 AM. An Italian Buffet
Dinner will be served along with free soft drinks and a glass of
complimentary champagne to toast in the New Year! Additional wine, beer
and other alcoholic beverages may be purchased. DJ entertainment will
also be provided. Tickets are $30 per person.
You do not need to be staying
at the Depot Inn & Suites to attend this party! Everyone is welcome
to purchase tickets and attend. Profits from this event will go to the
American Passenger Rail Heritage Foundation (APRHF), which owns and
operates the Silver Rails Event Center.

Would you like to make a weekend out of it? Train enthusiasts are already planning to join us for the long weekend! Most of the Depot Inn & Suites and TrainWeb staff will also be there to join in a number of fun excursions and activities. We are currently requiring a 3-night minimum stay for New Year's weekend. All Aboard for La Plata Photo Contest
"All Aboard! The Complete North American Train Travel Guide, Third Edition" by travel writer Jim Loomis will be published in 2010 by the Chicago Review Press. This will be the first update in over a decade to this indispensible guide to traveling America by Amtrak and enjoying the majestic scenery of Amtrak's routes.
The Depot Inn and Suites is pleased to announce the All Aboard for La Plata Photo Contest. The winner will have his or her photograph of an Amtrak train published as the cover art for "All Aboard!" and will enjoy two complimentary round-trip Amtrak coach tickets from anywhere in the United States to La Plata, plus two nights lodging at the Depot Inn & Suites!
Submissions are due by Sunday, November 15, 2009, 11:59 PM EST. You may submit multiple photographs for consideration. The winning photograph will be selected by mid-January, 2010. Let's Talk Trains broadcasts from the Depot Inn tomorrow
The esteemed Internet radio talk show Let's Talk Trains will broadcast live from the Depot Inn & Suites tomorrow morning, Saturday, October 24! Tomorrow's show will run from 12 noon to 2 PM Central Time (10 AM to 12 noon Pacific Time). Nathan and co-host AC Adam will feature special guest Stan East of the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department to discuss a special class he will conduct to train firefighters on extricating passengers from rail cars in emergency situations. The Depot Inn & Suites' own Tom and Kelly Marshall will also join the conversation.
